Hopefully the non lesbians can just shop somewhere else. The company I suppose can do this as many places give discounts for various reasons. The best way to fight this is just not shop there.
Joe Clark, who has previously written about womens hockey, took a look at the myths surrounding gay and lesbian income statistics. Interestingly, Clark found that [g]ay males earn less than straight males, often much less. Meanwhile, lesbians earn more than straight females. Clark attributes the difference to professional choices, not discrimination: Gay males have more education than straight males, but they do not choose male-dominated professions as often as straight males do. In fact, they choose female-dominated and/or service professions much more often. Gay males also work fewer hours than straight males. Lesbian women, by contrast, work more hours than straight females and are overrepresented in male-dominated professions that pay better than female-dominated professions.
Counterintuitive at first, but makes sense.
what’s Boing Boing?
Is that even legal??
Why would it not be legal?
Why would it not be legal?
Boing Boing is the name of the maternity shop located 1750 miles away from my house that I will now and forever be boycotting!
I hope you can make the same commitment.
“I think a bunch of straight pregnant ladies should shop there and just become lesbians for the short time they’re in the store.”
I’m sure the owners of Boing Boing would be delighted to have a bunch of straight pregnant ladies shopping at their store.
Let’s give it a shot....
Discount for _______ Only
Christians
Blacks
Whites
Straight People
......
Would it still be okay??
Seventh Ave in Park Slope has their own Halloween Parade, too, which they started because they were too good to be bothered to go all the way over to Greenwich Village for that one.
Works for me... kind of like some women in college: "LUGs" (Lesbian Until Graduation)
How about: "WISIL": (When I Shop I'm Lesbian).
And you can be as politically incorrect as you want. Take care over there.
” theyre not making as much money as a married couple”
Faggots are stupid and mentally retarded. Married people have the marriage penalty in taxes. How simply because because they are sodomites do they make less when every liberal reporter tries to make faggots out to be wealthier than avergae?
Discount for _______ Only
Christians
Blacks
Whites
None of those would be legal.
However, discounts for ____________ only
those wearing red shirts
those who drive SUV’s
those who sing a song
those who are pregnant
those who are lesbian
All the above are legal as each of those conditions is by choice.
Why shouldn't it be ok to put up any sign or make any discount or policy you want in your private establishment? It is none of the government's business, and is only between you and your customer.
Same thing should apply to property owners who rent, or hotel owners, but unacceptably, the government has stepped in and placed restrictions on what you can outwardly do, such as forbidding the denial of a client simply because of their race or religious affiliation. The same applies for hiring of employees as well, an unwarranted restriction on freedom, in my opinion.
Things you can't base a discount on, for example, is for voting in a federal election - those I Voted deals that keep cropping up during primary or general election times are illegal under federal law as vote buying.
Even then, I think it's still an intrusion into a private transaction which the federal government has no business regulating.
It looks like discrimination based upon sexual orientation which is a violation of New Yorks SONDA laws (Sexual Non-Discrimination Act) which was signed into law in 2002. Someone in New York probably should report them to the New York Attorney General’s Office of Civil Rights or other state organizations that are responsible for enforcing SONDA. Of course a straight person could also visit the site and try to get the discount. If it isn’t given they could sue the store under SONDA and federal discrimination laws. Bet there is a nice class action suit there too.
I wasn’t asking “should” it be okay.
Do you think if this business had chosen a different group the story might be a bit different?
I wonder if I could TAX LESBIANS in my business??
Only the ones that don't take time off from work to raise children.
Regardless, the single, heterosexual women allegedly make less don't deserve a discount?
