Paperno doesn't require shoppers to prove their eligibility, since she believes Park Slopers are too honest to lie (or exploit that one drunken incident in college) in order to get a deal on nursing supplies. She says she gets about one taker a day, as well as the expected number of complaints. “The lesbians love it and the gay males get upset,” she tells Brokelyn. “But their disposable income is so much higher than women’s.
