‘lurking’ ‘sneaking’? How about ‘walking’ into a restroom? A man who believes he is a woman and dresses like one would probably not be ‘safe’ going into a mens restroom. So maybe this person walked into the restroom without ‘lurking’ or ‘sneaking’ believing that it was ok to do so because the men’s room would represent a hazard? Why would a gay man want to ‘lurk’ in a women’s restroom? Men who dress as women typically do so to attract men - those typically don’t stalk women.
Living out here on the left coast, working in a building with gay men and women, and one transgendered person, and having been in a women’s restroom when a male/females entered in theaters and restaurants, I can tell you that the behavior of the transgendered I have encountered has always been “stand in line while rooting through handbag or picking at fingernail polish, enter a stall and close the door when one becomes available, exit stall and wash hands, fix makeup, exit restroom.” No leering, no eye contact, no loitering or making excuses to stand to close or look in stalls - just a person using a restroom. For this I don’t believe anyone, despite their lifestyle, deserves a near fatal beating by thugs. I haven’t heard anything about this beating that indicates lewd or threatening behavior. The women who were doing the beating may have been doing so because this individual was white and when realizing that it was a transgendered person, because it fueled their perception of a person ‘ok to abuse.’ Seriously these girls went after the transgendered male/female like jackals. I didn’t see self defense on their part. They could have called the slack jawed staff for protection but they didn’t need it. They could call the police if the transgendered person was threatening them - but they seemed - in the vid - to glory beating someone two against 1. On the video - the transgendered person did not exercise superior strength against them -there was just survival mode. Early when the vid was posted - a comment on the vid site had a black male making assumptions about the video (that it was racially motivated and the victim was a biological female) His knee jerk reaction was that the victim had ‘mouthed off’ and should realize that she ‘just can say anything she wants...’ I don’t know what the full circumstances are but I sure cringe at the assumptions. I don’t want to live in a society where roving two’s and three’s (groups) beat down individuals because they feel like they have the social upper hand. In other words - I prefer to keep the distinctions between us and Muslims intact.
