No way! Carla at 9 months won’t weigh as much as MO’s left butt cheek!

You have a point there. Even at full term, Carla may be lighter than Mooshelle.

And 3 months after birth Carla will be back to her normal slender self.

“Maternal age influences the chances of conceiving a baby with Down syndrome. At maternal age 20 to 24, the probability is one in 1562; at age 35 to 39 the probability is one in 214, and above age 45 the probability is one in 19.”

Carla Bruni good luck to ya. Be fruitful and multiply and all that. May God help you produce a good healthy child just not so ugly as your shrimpy husband

My mother at age 43 gave birth to my highly intelligent and gorgeous sister who in turn at the age of 43 gave birth to her mini-me who is also beautiful and intelligent.

I had 3 in my late 30s after smoking for decades and all three are just fine, actually better than fine.

While age definitely plays a factor, beyond that I really think it’s a roll of the dice. Sarah Palin leads a healthy lifestyle and had a Downs Syndrome baby she considers not only ok, but a blessing to her family. Nobody prays for their child to be born with Downs Syndrome, but mature couples who have faith certainly can accept it and see the blessing. What the Sarkozy’s would do is anyone’s guess.

I fully expect Barry & Michelle Antoinette to pull a stunt like this around election time.

Really? Kool for you (bad pun intended)!

I've read there's a big difference between late 30’s (like you) and mid 40’s (like SP) in regards to developmental problems and having kids.

OTOH, I had a neighbor back when I was growing up that was a heavy drug user (coke, grass, glue sniffing, who knows what else) and she had a daughter at 17 that is so severely retarded (wheelchair-bound, cannot speak, etc), we used to say the skank mother should have been arrested for child abuse and/or attempted murder.

Good luck to the Sarkozys.

I would never argue that using mind-altering drugs wouldn’t be a sure, terrible hazard to any fetus. While smoking isn’t the smartest thing in the world for a variety of reasons, it doesn’t compare to using rec drugs, especially in pregnant women. I belive they said it could reduce birth weight, which becomes significant with premmies; multiples are notoriously early. I didn’t smoke during pregnancy, btw.

“...it doesn’t compare to using rec drugs...”

No way.

I wasn’t trying to make any comparison of the two, Dear Lord, no!

And what is wrong with a Down’s syndrome baby? I have a niece who has Downs and the world has never had a sweeter, more loving person in it. Down’s syndrome people are to be treasured.

That has to be THE cruelest picture in the world. Love it. Now, which one is telling YOU what to feed your children?

Is the LSM flipping out vis-a-vis Palin, that she is too old to become a mother?
