Fate Of Accused Fort Hood Gunman Rests With New Post Commander
The decision on how to handle the court martial for accused Fort Hood killer Maj. Nidal Hasan falls to the posts new commander.
FORT HOOD (April 22, 2011) - Fort Hood has a new commanding general and hell have a major decision facing him from the start.
Lt. Gen. Donald Campbell took command of the Texas Army post at a ceremony Thursday.

With Cone's departure, now Campbell will decide whether Maj. Nidal Hasan will be court-martialed and face the death penalty in the 2009 shootings at Fort Hood.
Two Army colonels have already made that recommendation.
The final decision must be made by a commanding general.
Last month Cone granted a request by Hasan's attorney to delay proceedings until Campbell's arrival.
Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.
