The W100 Starts Tomorrow! (Pres. Bush 43 100K 3 Day Desert Bike Ride w/ Wounded Warriors)

Tomorrow the W100 will begin with a 12 mile (19.4 km) ride in the heat of the day. A grueling 30 mile (48.3 km) ride will follow on Tuesday, with President Bush and the warriors finishing up the last 20 miles (32.3) on Wednesday. Stay tuned here for pictures from the trail, video of the ride and daily photo albums. Until then, get a sneak peek at some of the rough terrain and trails President Bush and 14 wounded warriors will be taking on over the next three days:

Some of the trail is wide enough for vehicles and several bikes.

Parts of the ride will have to be single-file.

And some of it will be straight uphill!

It will be a long, winding 100 kilometers, so check back for more pictures and video from the trail!

Hope everyone had a blessed Easter. Did you all see that video of "Rise Up" - a flash mob did a dance video and left their tennis shoes where they stood, donated to charity, after the entire thing was over. VERY MOVING!

This bike ride is being done in the Big Bend National Park in deep West Texas (my country!). It is rugged, desert, and grueling indeed. There have been some really bad wildfires near there, in Alpine and Ft. Davis, and I hope they don’t affect the air quality for the riders. The smoke could be bad for their endurance if it’s windy or the fires flare back up.

It’s a wonderful event for the president to help with! he loves our troops! Thank God...because the weenie in the WH certainly doesn’t!
