Bashar Assad has launched all-out war on his people. Tanks firing artillery, APCs, infantry units, commandoes and snipers were deployed for the first time at daybreak Monday, April 25 in cities across Syria for the most brutal assault on any Arab anti-government protest in the four-month uprising. In the first few hours, hundreds are estimated to have been massacred (over and above the 350 shot dead in the last three days) and thousands injured. Denied medical attention, they are left in the streets to die. The military offensive to break the back of the uprising is led by his younger brother Maher Assad at the head of the Republican Guard and the 4th Division which is made up mostly of the Assad's Alawite clan.

Wow, someone we OUGHT kill is slaughtering his people, and the silence from White House and Europe is deafening...

Well, I’m glad we’re not getting involved, anyway. Now,, if we’d just ditch involvement in Libya...

Even with the Muslim Brotherhood threat they have fought off for years now in Syria? I realize Iran and Syria have worked hand in glove, even so when it comes to the Islamic push across the ME they will fight one another to establish this if Iran believes theres a chance of uniting all the ME under Islamic Rule...which is what they are pushing for now.

"It was said to me...”The only reason no other nation has invaded the US is because they all know we are individually armed.”

You may be referring to Yammamoto's quote when asked about invading America. He said he wouldn't do it because there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass. It's never been substantiated that he said that. Even if he didn't, it's truthful and it's also a pretty good line.

I don't know how credible the Muslim Brotherhood overthrowing the Syrian government stories are. They seem to be the boogeyman behind all of these ME government topplings. It's true, they are a serious threat to take over in Egypt. Beyond that, I'm suspicious of their influence in the other countries. Let's also keep in mind that the Muslim Brotherhood are also Sunni like Assaad and not Shiite like the Mullahs in Iran. I've never read stories where Iran and the Muslim Brotherhod have worked together before.

Speaking of Yammamoto...”Toro-Toro-Toro”..and “Pearl harbor” are in my movie Library...as well as various other war films. Though I’m a gal I raised men so your selections for movies and TV was very limited at best... I grew to love war pictures and action films...especially when based on true happenings.

Yammamoto was not a foolish man. But as was also said Japans actions woke up a sleeping giant. I sometimes think our government is still asleep at the wheel in the dangers our country faces. It’s not business as usual.

It’s been said the Muslim Brotherhood layed low and became “moderate” in their thinking concerning radical Islam....but in fact simply have waited until the opportunity rises to move forward with their agenda to set in place Islamic rule. So there’s differences today of who and what they really are. Either or they are not good news as far as I can see. Not that Assad is any better but at least he’s established an International Presence where other nations have been able to negotiate somewhat with him.

I do understand though, that Syrians can be very brutal in warfare and not to be taken lightly.

If Syria occupied Lebanon for a decade or more, I don’t think the regime will have much trouble controlling the population of Syria. Assad was his Dad’s successor, and he evidently has no trouble with slaughtering his people in order to keep them under his thumb, especially if he can count on Iran’s help.

Assaad has created untold amounts of trouble in the region. He supports terrorist activities, he supports Hezbollah financially, with weapons and many other ways. They in turn have ruined Lebanon and are constantly attacking Israel. He controls Lebanon almost as his personal puppet. Working with Iran, he has helped in the killing of our soldiers in Iraq. I personally believe the reports that WMDs were shipped from Iraq to Syria before the war.

Whatever could come to power after toppling Assad can never be any worse than him and could certainly be better.

Hard to say whether Hillary hates us and loves our enemies, but it should be obvious to everyone by now that she’s a Carter-variety idiot and she’s in over her head.

Hmmmm. Why is there an international uproar over Libya and not one over Syria? What makes these two countries so different?

Could it be oil.

“Do you think Obama would open fire on our people as these nations have done?”

I know I do. Clinton demonized gun owners, Christians, and patriots such to the point that the FBI’s ‘Megiddo Report’ said that anyone flying a US flag in front of their home was suspect as a threat to the country. And then don’t forget the criminal attacks on Randy Weaver and his family and then the massacre at Waco where the ATF still has yet to fully explain their reasons for the assault. Then there was the little Cuban kid who was sent back to Cuba after machine-gun toting thugs took him from his Republican family.

What surprises me, and perhaps this is to Obama’s credit, is that no such attacks have taken place on Obama’s watch...yet. And your question does neatly dovetail with Obama’s one-time insistence that the USA needed a domestic military that was just as well-armed and well-funded as the Pentagon. It begs the question what such a domestic military force would do? What did Obama want it to do? No one ever asked him that question...maybe you should.

Im still not sure why we should care who wins or loses in this fight. Both sides hate our guts and would cut our throats if given the chance.

It could be worse if enough M.Eastern nations come together as one united block...and I do think in time enough of them will unite, be they Shite or Sunni Muslim if they think they can take out Israel...and thereby doing so lessen our presence in the ME.

"and I do think in time enough of them will unite, be they Shite or Sunni Muslim if they think they can take out Israel"

With all due respect, you need to study up on our Islamofascist enemy. If they didn't have Israel to bicker about, they would be fighting with each other. The only time a lot of these different factions unite is for common cause such as hatred of America. However, they hate each other also. The Baath party Sunnis who are a modern form of Naziism IMO, hate the religious sects and visa versa. The religious Sunnis led by Al Queada and the Muslim Brotherhood don't get along with the religious Shiites. Let by Iran and her Mullahs who are waiting for the 12th Imam to come back. No, they will only unite for common causes and once those causes are complete, they will go back to war (physically and idealogically) with each other. Most of these sects really do not care about the Israeli issue. Truthfully, have you ever heard Bin Laden drone on about the evil Zionists? That's not his thing. A lot of them don't care about the Israeli issue.

That's exactly what I've been saying, they do unite from time to time and according to what they believe they can accomplish by doing so. As you know they seee Isareal as the "little Satan" and US as th big Satan....so uniting for an attack on Israel is more than possible. But you are correct, even if they were to unite against Israel it will not stop the basic hatred they have within themselves....they will still war with each other and any other their mind sets out to do so against. Heck, even within their own wars they switch sides at the drop of the hat...so there's no loyality even within their own "tribes" and or sects.
