Bush was a legacy admission.

So what? Around 30% of the students admitted to Yale and Harvard each year are legacies.

Actually, Bush's college grades were better than Al Gore's and John Kerry's grades -- probably, better than Obama's.

Maybe he really is a "RINO" after all?

I’d love to see Obama’s application for his State Bar License. You pretty much have to tell them your entire life story.

I would like to see that as well. It is amazing how the media absolve themselves of not having vetted Obama. They would never have let Bush get away with hiding his academic records or anything else.

He got admitted to the “finest schools” in America based upon who his father was.

1200 on the SAT’s is not ‘smoking them’. Yale admissions accepts students with 700 Math and 700 Verbal on average - not 640 Math and 566 Verbal.

Bush himself said the had to “knock on a lot of doors” to get into Yale - that wouldn't have happened at all unless he were a “legacy” at Yale.

The comments on the link are amazing. These people think Obama was the greatest student ever because....He says so. They are blind sheep that refuse to ask questions and attack anyone that does. I pray that they don’t reflect the majority of Americans.

And I am sure that some significant % of students are also affirmative action.

Is that also a “So what?”? Why not?

Yes, I already pointed out that Bush was a better scholar than Kerry (or Gore).

But in my mind there should be a greater stigma for being a “legacy” than for being an “affirmative action”.

Neither really belongs there based upon merit. One got a little help because they might not have had all the advantages in life - the other got a little help getting there DESPITE having had all the advantages in life.

That is like the guy with a million dollar car racing you - and he STILL wants a head start. Rather pitiful from where I am sitting.

Umm, no. Rino's definitely don't fight back.

One of Trump's first campaign commercials could be of Fauxbama in Kenya stating he's "glad to be back home".

Levin, like some fellow freepers, would never stand for Obama getting his ass kicked by a ‘non-conservative’ like Trump.

The whole point of going to an Ivy League school is to take advantage of the gold plated networking opportunities. Do you think people would keep paying that kind of tuition if the well connected legacy students weren't there to rub elbows with?

But college admissions aren't solely based on merit. That's just a fact. Accept it and move on. Life isn't fair -- but surely, you knew that, didn't you?

also, who paid for those educations?

My wife and I were just wondering, after just finishing financing our daughter's educations.

How much is an Ivy League education? Do they award scholarships to marginal students? Was he registered as a foreign student?

Inquiring minds want to know.

He mentioned at one of his town hall meetings that he went to school on scholarships. Needs further investigation to find out if it’s true.

Well Bush did get his MBA and that is an accomplishment.
If Bush had been a marginal graduate student I guarantee that liberal B-School profs would have found a reason to dump. Bush must have done well enough that he didn't supply them with a reason. Bush probably enjoyed Yale undergraduate life a little too much. I have seen undergraduate records like that before, and seen such people have outstanding graduate records. Sometimes all it takes is to wake up and realize the party is indeed over, graduate school is now for the “marbles”. Remember Gore flunked out of two graduate programs, divinity school & law school! (Technically he left law school before he was kicked out due to grades!) Now Zero hard to say how he went from bad student to magna cum laude, I guess he could have buckled down and produced. But where is the evidence? There is as much evidence he got the academic award for being black as there is evidence he earned it!

"W" definitely had the patina of a legacy ~ and his family goes way, way, way, way back to the foundations of the Republic ~ as does (probably) Obama's.

Did you ever notice that almost every President is a descendant of John Adams and/or William Henry Harrison? Or, if they weren't, they lived in and among a whole bunch of that crowd.

I believe it was an Adams daughter married a Harrison grandson ~ and next thing you know they had 20+ kids who were moving out into the frontier only recently won from the Brits.

Those kids had many beaucoup kids and so on. They are arguably one of America's largest native born family groups.

A comparable situation occurred with the former mistress of one of Sweden's kings. She married a grandson of one of the DeLagarde's who are so famous in Swedish history. They were busy having kids ~ a huge lot of them ~ and he got killed in I believe Latvia. They have his statue on the main square in town (he beat the Russians somewhere).

She took the family money and moved into Finland to finance all sorts of industrial development, particularly that associated with iron and steel.

Within a generation her own two dozen kids had arrayed vast fortunes and began moving on to America taking a lot of it with them.

You can find them lurking back there in a lot of Presidential families ~ and probably the Bush family ~ and without doubt the Clintons.

There are a good number of "legacy" families around, particularly the Dudley's of Massachusetts (et al), and they're all tied up with the Adams, Harrison and Delagardie families, and a bunch of others.

Harvard wants you if you qualify! The rich pay heavily for the privilege of having their sons and daughters meet up with the legacies, and so it goes generation after generation.

Agreed. The media has become a propaganda machine, and are not doing their job.
