The Westboro Baptist Church, known for its anti-gay protests at schools and high-profile events, is making a pit stop at Hilliard Darby High School next month.

Hilliard school officials sent an e-mail alert to parents today, alerting them of the group's protest scheduled from 7:10 to 7:40 a.m. on May 10.

"While the group does have the right to gather in protest as well as free speech, they will NOT be exercising that right on school grounds," Hilliard Darby Principal Ryan McClure wrote. "We have been in contact with the Hilliard Police Department, who will be available that morning for support if needed."

On its website, the Westboro Baptist Church plans to picket outside the school "where the parents and teachers teach Rebellion 101."

Spokeswoman Amanda Morris said Hilliard Darby doesn't offer a class or activity called Rebellion 101.

Ask some truckers to park their rigs in front of them & blow their horns. I've seen that work with these scum. Also do not touch them no matter what. I would video everything because they want you to hit them so they can sue. I think I would get some of the nastiest rap/rock music & blast them out with it. The louder the better. Freedom of speech works both ways. Being nice to these scummers doesn't work. I know. You are better off not even speaking to them. That is just what they want, then a fight breaks out. Good luck & it is true they often do no shows.

I think you’re absolutely right. If they actually ended up searching the car and found “something” whatever that “something” was might be inadmissible in a court of law. And I suppose they could try to sue the police claiming they were illegally detained. But “Protestus Interruptus” is quite a bit short of and less lethal than what many of us feel these folks have been begging for.
