When you can prove that he was “an illegal alien advocate” then do so, prove to us that you weren’t lying when you claimed that.
Yeah, you’re a big one for demanding others produce ‘proof’ while exempting yourself from ever producing a bit of evidence to back your own claims.
The proof has been there all along. The evidence is obvious to even the casual listener by the simple fact that Rush didn’t take calls on the subject during the 90s, despite the fact that it was a major campaign issue in California resulting in the passage of Prop 187. Those of us in southern California routinely tuned into George Putnam or Roger Hedgecock in order to hear what was going on because we never heard the issue discussed when we listened to Rush. Even the most devoted Limbaugh groupie won’t be able to produce a transcript of Rush discussing the issue because he didn’t do it.
Rush was approached many times during the 90s by people active in seeking to control illegal immigration. Peter Brimelow has written about his own encounter with Rush. Rush refused to support them, and he wouldn’t allow the subject to come up during his program. Callers who wanted to discuss illegal immigration didn’t get past the screener.
Rush provided two excuses for his refusal to join in opposing illegal immigration. One is his often repeated story about his grandfather, who wrote a school essay critical of immigration-restrictionists in the early 1900s. For Rush the current objection against illegal immigration was the same as what his grandfather had opposed.
A second reason is that Rush embraced the view of the business community concerning illegals. The business world wasn’t concerned about the social impact of massive illegal immigration. They’re indifferent to it. What they’re concerned about is the work ethic of illegals. They believe it’s up to government, not business, to address illegal immigration.
As early as the 2000 primaries Rush could have criticized Dubya’s support for the interests of illegals, in order to warn Bush off from trying to push an unpopular amnesty if he won. But Rush didn’t. It wasn’t an issue that interested him. It wasn’t until Dubya ran into a firestorm of grassroots opposition to his ‘Comprehensive Immigration Reform’ that Rush finally decided it was an issue that he better support.
LOL, we listen to Rush, and some of us have been listening since 1988, you have to show us proof that some how we missed that the Rush Limbaugh radio show was actually “an illegal alien advocate” show.
Are we supposed to believe real life, or some internet nutcase.
I’m suprised to see you denouncing internet nutcases. I would think that professional courtesy would be part of your social milieu.
