As controversy continues to heat up over whether Barack Obama is a "natural born citizen" and thus constitutionally eligible to be president, Fox News has declared that Obama is "a citizen of the United States."
The proclamation came yesterday by Fox News anchor Shepard Smith, who said:
"He has produced a birth certificate. It shows his mother gave birth to him in Hawaii. It is stamped and sealed by the state of Hawaii. It is confirmed and Fox News can confirm the president of the United States is a citizen of the United States. Period."
Smith never mentioned that typical citizens of the U.S. cannot run for president, but that only "natural born citizens" can, which has to do not only with the birthplace of a candidate, but also the citizenship of a candidate's parents.
He was reacting to statements by Christian evangelist Franklin Graham suggesting Obama should produce his long-form birth certificate that includes the name of a doctor and hospital of birth.

His mother was not of legal age and his father was a Brittish Kenyan subject. Under the law at the time he was British if Obama Sr was really his father. Then he was adopted and became an Indonesian citizen and Indonesia did not allow dual citizenships. At best he is a naturalized US citizen, but he could still be an Indonesian citizen because he has not released any information in the 0bama version of transparency.

Here's a room full of citizens of the United States, as they take their oath of citizenship. They're citizens, period, like Obama claims to be, but they're not eligible for the presidency either. Let's see all the hidden records and see if the communist usurper really is a natural born citizen.

Could there be Rand Corp or CIA studies that show the nation will burn in civil war if he is found to be ineligible? Certainly any right thinking person would prefer to see that then an interloper in the White House.

Shep Smith is the wussie liberal that blamed George Bush for Katrina on live TV. It is not hard to see he is a card carrying liberal. Just because Shep says that's the way it is, period, doesn't mean that is really the way it is.

If the mom is a citizen, then the son is a citizen. Not all citizens are eligible to be President. The legal age of the mother is unimportant. Indonesia’s opinion is not important.
If we are speaking of our current President, he is hiding something important on his long form birth certificate — assuming he has one.
In my view, a “natural born citizen” is one who has been a citizen from birth. I really think that if one of your parents is an American citizen, you are as well. I think the law specifies this as well. Doesn’t it say that as long as one parent is an American, and has lived for at least five years in America, their child will be a citizen.
I really think this issue is a loser. There are so many more things this jack ass is doing, and this is what we are concerned with?

You’re right that there are hundreds of FR threads on this. I have not found a single one that cites an actual law on the matter. I do see a lot of pissing and moaning whenever anyone dares attack birther orthodoxy.

If mom was a citizen who established residence in another country (while NOT doing official government business) the child born in that country would NOT be a US Citizen.
Now, I'm not saying it's the case, but hypothetically, if his mom moved to Kenya and married Sr. there...then gave birth, the child is not a US Citizen.
