I’m sure the birth certificate is legit, and I’m glad this particular issue is no longer dangling out there. I also am further convinced that our president is a narcissistic jerk of the highest order. He could have released this thing long ago. That would have been the decent thing to do. His own people created confusion by conflating the colb with the actual bc. It was his responsibility to clear things up.
But selfish political gain kept him from doing that. Leaving the confusion to fester had too big of an upside. Now he gets to knock down his opponents and critics like bowling pins, the ones who didn’t publically disavow birthers and birtherism anyway. He has also innoculated himself against further investigation into the rest of his missing background — his college records, etc.
It was a sly political move but cynical to the extreme. It shows how flimsy the notion that he’s some kind of “uniter” is. He was fully willing to drag the country through this crap to score some easy points.
