Her mother broke down at sentencing of murderer Carlos Salazar Cruz. The drunk and drugged illegal repeatedly struck the young girl with a pipe and used the bloody weapon to savagely sexually abuse her as she laid unconscious. A good Samaritan called the police who found Cruz covered in his victim’s blood with the gory pipe in hand. Noting that Cruz slipped into the country illegally, Justice Buchter noted: "We need this defendant in this country like we need the plague." Cruz will be deported back to Mexico upon completion of his 22 year sentence.

BLOGGER When will these out of touch elected officials learn? How many more senseless death's need there be? This person need's to be subjected to the same horror he put this young woman through, but no, he will go to prison, get 3 square meals a day, free health care and in a few years he will be free and judged rehabilitated (and sneak back into the US and get back on the gravy train). A sad commentary on life in a so-called sanctuary city.

That was my exact first thought as well...but on further reflection I realized being staked out in the desert on a fire ant hill would be better. “No cruel and unusual punishment” should be amended to “punishment that fits the crime”.
It boggles my mind that this garbage will be released back into society someday.
I hope the other poster is right about the other inmates taking care of this problem.

22 to life? Paroled after 10 and released in NEW Mexico? And given food stamps, lifetime medical care, and social security? Probably.

I disagree— the creep deserves to die by the same manner he has killed his prey.and he should not be allowed to breath one more breath -ever having denied that once unalienable -God given right to those he owed no allegiance to. Liz, I like that you added a couple of the NY Post comments. I went there and all the comments were anti-illegal. This problem will eventually be addressed w/o any amnesty and likely with extreme retribution. Voters are fed up!

It's becoming clearer that "both sides" of the aisle are now against amnesty. As you said, voters have had it.
Pass the word: These savages are a national security nightmare. Clearly, they are violent separatists intent on building a Third World nation inside the US. They strive to create chaos and are fervently attempting to weaken the US financial system.
L/E should be collaring the offenders for undermining US national security-----not for immigration violations. The sense of entitlement here is nauseating, expecting taxpayers to pick up the tab for their every whim. They have no respect for America, Americans, our laws, and our culture. They keep escalating the whining for more and more freebies.
It is indicative of their hidden agenda that they will not toe the line and become citizens, pay taxes, and contribute to make America stronger. We do not want ----nor do we need here---law breakers with hidden agendas who brazenly violate our borders.
The evil justice system, namely the trifecta of judge, prosecutor and defense attorney, are very much responsible for the out of control crime in this country. They rank only second to the defendant.
There is no such thing as truth in sentencing and as result, we have generations of victims and a lifetime of criminal behavior by the defendant.
But there’s that little nasty R word that comes up that prevents the proper punishment...
