A few of us were wondering a while back whether we would see this tactic used at some point.

Trump is obviously a Left-wing ligthning rod. Get him out front, have him throw a bunch of kook attracting bombs. Let his veritas run out. Then start associating every other conservative out there with his now tarnished Name recognition.

From what I've seen of Sarah so far, I think she can over come it... But her timing is going to need to be exquisitely done.
