I have never gotten how throwing a deadbeat parent in jail produces child support.

A good percentage of "deadbeat" dads don't pay child support because they have no income to pay it with. Losing your job does not reduce your child support payment expectations. If the only work you can get pays less than your child support payments, that's also your tough luck.

Yea, that is tough. Their responsibility is to their children they need to find a way to support them. Besides you can petition the court to reduce the payments rather then avoiding them.
