PICKET: Take your global citizenship and shove it, Superman
Washington Times Water Cooler Blog ^ | 4/30/11 | Kerry Picket

Look - up in the sky. It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s Superman renouncing his American citizenship. In a move that can only be described as a punch in the face to fans of a more-than-70-year-old American cultural icon, DC Comics will have the famous Kryptonian renounce his U.S. citizenship before the United Nations in Action Comics No. 900.

In the story, Superman says to an American official, “I intend to speak before the United Nations tomorrow and inform them that I am renouncing my U.S. citizenship.” The Man of Steel then complains, “I’m tired of having my actions construed as instruments of U.S. policy … ‘truth, justice and the American way’ - it’s not enough anymore.”

Superman comes to this revelation after he appears in Iran to offer nonviolent help for the country’s dissidents. As a result of his actions, the Iranian dictatorship accuses the United States of committing an act of war.

Heck, I don’t even care so much about the citizenship, seems to me the whole point is to make hime stop saying “truth, justice and the American way”.

“Equivocation, bureaucracy, and the UN mandate” will be the new catch phrase.

Apperently all nations, through the UN, gave Supes honourary citizenship in the 70’s.

DC comics as is Marvel are leftist - they have been for the longest time. AND who reads comics anymore? The comics today don’t even look like comics of yesteryear - they look different and are also drawn entirely in a different manner!

Superman, like Captain America and G I Joe (among others) have always been American icons and symbols of everything good, decent and moral about our great country.

John Wayne was only an actor but he was also bigger than life, an American through and through, and above all a patriot.

And look at Bob Hope, born in England, but became an actor and made millions of dollars over here and gave back by sacrificing his time to perform for our troops unselfishly. Hope too was a patriot.

These things personified America.

The loss of Superman is a great blow and I take that loss personally and as a result I will refuse to buy and comic from the company that produces Superman comics nor will I see any further Superman movies.

Superman is now dead to me.

Superman is no longer a superhero because he has become an appeaser, a globalist, and that lowest of all things, a traitor to our country.

“So superman becomes a traitor. Did Obama put them up to it or did DC comics go totally leftist?”

Comic books are drawn by artists. Artists aren’t noted for their political thinking or logical abilities. Artists are right-brain thinkers. They see a charging alligator and they think, “Oh, my, that would look gorgeous as a handbag! Once it dies of natural causes, of course.” A newspaper artist illustrated some of my newspaper articles and he was really good. He called me one day and wanted to do a comic book together. I pitched a few mildly conservative plot lines and he was horrified. No, no, he said, I want to do something about global warming or how the government helps people against evil corporations.

When you work in a newspaper and everybody you know has Stepford wife sameness, how could you learn to see the real world?

Ha! One of your previous posts was where I first saw that.

I think that if Supes was indeed officially adopted somehow by the Kents then he was probably made a citizen through that process.

Only a mater of time they have him kneeling to Mecca 5 times a day.

Ironically, Superman was created by a Jewish cartoonist.

The comics today don’t even look like comics of yesteryear - they look different and are also drawn entirely in a different manner!

That's not bad in and of itself. I can highly recommend the modern comics "Sandman", "Watchmen", and "Fables", for instance.

You’ll see the lefties (and some on here) clapping and celebrating the New .. One World Superman.

Many, (like on here) will joke about superman being an illegal or just a comic book hero.
What many (Not the lefties though)will not understand is This is just One More instance of the communist, leftist and One World Government folks attempts to destroy Any and All things American!

Ask yourself .. What IF Superman had come out and said .. “I dislike Homosexuals” or how about “Islam breeds terrorism”!?

Along with Code Pink and The Muslims .. I’d bet that The Left, The Communists and The P-r-o-g-r-e-s-s-i-v-e-s would be “OUTRAGED” too!

What do you want to bet that these groups believe that Superman Denouncing AMERICA .. is a good thing!!

You Freepers Should be taking this just a little more serious.

First they came ...

I think that if Supes was indeed officially adopted somehow by the Kents then he was probably made a citizen through that process.

There have been dozen of different iterations on this story, but it basically boils down to either:

1) Shortly after finding him in his Kryptonian rocket, they go through legal channels to adopt him (making about a story about finding him abandoned on the road or somesuch)

2) Martha Kent goes into seclusion for a few months and pretends that she's the biological mother.

Either of these would have been much easier to pull off in the Kansas of 1910 (when he landed as a baby in the first 1938 story) than in 1980....but DC is kind of stuck with the origin!

Has our country now sunk to this level when being simply an American is now a crime, a criminal offense, punishable by fine, imprisonment or death.
