Toronto Star endorses the NDP (Socialists in second - Canada's Election Monday May 2)
The Toronto Star ^ | Sat., April 30th | Editorial Board - Toronto Star

Posted on 04/30/2011 3:08:56 PM PDT by fanfan

Monday’s federal election may well turn out to be historic for all kinds of reasons that were not obvious when it was called five weeks ago today.

Unless the pollsters have totally misread the mood of the voters, Stephen Harper’s Conservatives look to be heading for another victory. As we said on Friday, that would be bad for the country. The last thing Canada needs is an affirmation of a government obsessed with control, dismissive of critics, and determined to further diminish the role of the state in charting a better future for the country.

Voters who believe that Canada can — and should — aim higher....

~snip~

Fortunately, this time there is a real choice. Voters who believe Canada should aspire to something greater than the crabbed, narrow vision offered by the Harper Conservatives should look to Jack Layton and the New Democrats on Monday.

It’s the Toronto Red Star — if they ever endorse a Conservative, I’ll know that end days are upon us.

They are scared the Commies are killing the Golden Goose they base their outcomes on. They may have realized Communism only works with a viable host to feed upon.

But the NDP??? And this is what they are telling the sheeple to do....

But vote strategically

"In some parts of the country there is a real risk that a surge toward the NDP could sap the Liberal vote and have the perverse effect of tipping more seats to the Conservatives. Voters worried about that should consider voting strategically — giving their support to the progressive candidate best placed to win."

The author obviously never passed a critical thinking class. How can a government obsessed with control also be determined to further diminish the role of government? Communist are idiots.

Hey, no fair. The Toronto (Red) Star sounds like every newspaper in America in 2012.

BTW, I think we should seriously consider supporting Hillary in the primaries and then drop her like a bad habit in the general election. If the news media can pick McCain, why can't Free Republic support another kind of socialist against Obamalamadingdong. Suck both of their war chests dry just to make it even.

Jack (off) Layton ? The champion of women`s rights? The same on caught in a whore house receiving a “happy ending” or as algore said, ‘releasing his second chakra’ ?

The same Jack (off) who`s wife is defending him, thereby clearly implying they have a fully open marriage !?

Jack (off) the next PM of Canada !?

I saw an article recently that Canada is second in the world as far as economic growth. Harper has managed to turn Canada around. Their dollar is higher than ours.

A leftist rag like the Toronto Star wants Canadians to turn back the clock and resume it's past socialist ways. I'm sure the media is pounding on the conservatives, no doubt the same crap as we get down here, tax the rich, more entitlements for everyone else with the all the money the rich are hoarding.

Millions of Canadians with their hand out, expecting the government to increase, not diminish, the role of the state. The commies at the Star don't even try and hide it, relishing the role of the state in charting a better future for the country.

The government in neither the US or Canada ever did anything to chart a better future for the country, it's the people that built both countries. One can make a very easy case that the government intervention into “charting a future” is the reason both countries are struggling to right the ship.

Socialist hacks, so consumed by their self-importance, they think only a collection of elitists should be in control of a country, only the government should be setting the future of the country.

Hopefully there are still enough people in Canada who realize the government is the problem, not the solution. Enough people who are not buying the rich bashing and are not standing their with their hands out.

Down here the growth of government and their intrusion into every facet of our lives continues unabated.

Canada with only 33 million people has a chance to be one of the great bastions of freedom, a chance to reign in the government and return the future of the country to the people. We on the other hand are in for a long hard fight as the current socialist administration is hellbent in destroying the current capitalist foundation of the economy and moving us toward a clearly failed Europe socialist model.

I think that journalism schools have chased away anything but loony-left students. No young person with a conservative bent or any thhinking skills at all would survive journalism school.

So the only people left who want to become ‘reporters’ are kids who want to rant at the world about how great socialism is.

the left is in a bubble of its own making. That’s why they’re in such a state of rage.

determined to further diminish the role of the state in charting a better future for the country.

Taxpayer paid government bureaucrats. The keepers of the future.

Progs are so mentally diminished it is a wonder they can put ink to paper without a government bureaucrat to tell them how, where, what , when and who.

The police let Jack go . So he rode away on his bicycle . Funny thing is after he got on Toronto council Jack would ride his bicycle around the city and tell anyone that would listen how he was saving the environment ,

Followed by a Toronto City owned Limo that carried his briefcase and paper work...

Guy is one hypocritical Marxist...his wife too.

Unfortunately only the “hard core” think along those lines, most voters say “meh”-I’ll pick the one I like the least (be darned to strategery)...
