The Toronto has always been a leftist socialist commie-kissing rag. The Toronto Sun used to be rabidly conservative but even it has been compromised and leans left sometimes.

Jack Layton makes Howard Dean seem comatose.

“How can a government obsessed with control also be determined to further diminish the role of government?”

Come on, FreeAtlanta. You’re not supposed to point out liberal stupidity. You’ll make them cry. Other than that, your comment is on target. Got any more...

The last thing Canada needs is an affirmation of a government obsessed with control, dismissive of critics, and determined to further diminish the role of the state in charting a better future for the country.

Translation: The Editorial Board of the Toronto Star earnestly longs for a Socialist-infested government obsessed with control, dismissive of critics, and determined to further diminish the freedoms of the people...

Somehow the “Toronto (Orange) Star” just doesn't sound right.

This whole “strategic voting” thing has gotten out of hand — there are even “vote exchange” web sites. Some acquaintances opposed Proportional Representation (STV, in BC) on the basis that it was too complicated — yet they also advocate strategic voting. It's nuts, strategic voting is many, many times more complicated than PR would be. First, you have to decide who you least like. Then you have to decide who you dislike somewhat less, who will be more likely to win. That's pretty hard to do, when the polls are in flux, and the whole game changes in a week or so.

Bah. That’s right, give up because you can’t win.

History degree right here. The leftists can KMA.

This can’t be happening. This can’t happen.

Canada, part of NAFTA and part of the New World Order / globalism. Socialism is a predatory cancer upon the world. The words "diversity," "entitlements," "progressive," "green," "racism," and many more are government fast-track words for the plague against the middle class and small businesses.

Yup, 'ol Jack was found naked with an Asian "masseuse" by the police when they raided that "bawdy house". Thus, this comment someone else posted on the National Post website -

Like a Asian masseuse's hand , Jack's fortunes will go up and down ;-)

PR would be a disaster- caucus members would be in the thrall of the party brass that controls the lists. Don’t toe the party line, go to bottom of list, out the door come next election. I do, however, like the STV where I could rank the candidates.

PR using the STV system puts the power in the voters’ hands. The representatives are elected directly and individually — there is no party list. Furthermore, such a system would likely diminish the power of traditional major parties — they are all coalitions, formed to have a chance to win, under the first-past-the-post system.

Here’s a web site describing what I’m referring to:

Actually, they did, in 1972. They endorsed Stanfield over Trudeau.
