Yearn for a conspiracy theory uniting Obama and the royal wedding? Yearn no more
The Australian ^ | April 30, 2011

Geoffrey Robertson in Fairfax's National Times yesterday:

It is an open secret at the Commonwealth Secretariat that they do not want Charles III to be the next head of the Commonwealth when the Queen retires -- they are looking for someone more inspiring. Mandela, once the favourite candidate, is now too old. But there is an even better candidate whose name is being mentioned as an alternative to Charles in due course, namely ex-President Obama, with his Kenyan ancestry (as some believe, Kenyan birth). There are rumours that the palace's refusal to invite him to the wedding was neither oversight nor overslight but a fear that Barack and Michelle would appear to the "black Commonwealth" as superior to Charles and Camilla as future leaders of the Commonwealth.

Rightio.

Difficult to say: Geoffrey Robertson: leftist "human rights lawyer", anti-monarchy, smugly satisfied with his own brilliance.

He used to run TV Hypotheticals, basically improv theatre where public figures examined possible real-life situations using their experience. Entertaining until you realized the moderator (Robertson) was the only one with a script, like what he wrote. Then it became meh.

My illumination was: Future hostile Indonesian Government goes nuclear. Air Garuda 747 with "something" under the wing is heading directly towards the Pine Gap Aust-US defence facility, not answering RAAF fighter calls. what to do?

retired RAAF officer (playing Chief of Air Staff): "Defence Minister, clear and present danger, recommend shoot down"

retired politician(playing Defence Minister): "Agree, shoot it down"

Robertson then steps in and overrules them, because he wants the US Navy to do it over Australian soil.

(Back to article) 'Cut and paste' is a regular feature of The Australian, highlighting balther and contradictorily statements published in the MSM. (For some reason, most examples come from the Left)

The whole point of the current arrangement is that the head of the Commonwealth is SUPPOSED to be a figurehead, not a politician.

I'm not so sure. Queen Elizabeth has played a key role during Blair. In a way, they are the guardians of the British culture and tradition. The younger generation embarrassed them, but a strong and good monarch can make a difference.

England needs a Christian King — and one who is a crusader.

What stood out to me was one word out of this line. Emphasis mine.

Nah... The next "Monarch" to lead the British Commonwealth will be Bill Clinton. After all, he already has that "It's good to be the king" line down pat!

Oh, certainly. The Queen has always taken the “advice” of the Prime Minister, and QE II has always done a consummate job. But it’s still very different from some politician trying to grab more power.

The Queen is genuinely working for the good of England and the Commonwealth, which is something many politicians find hard to do.

Has someone designed the perfect hat and gown that Michelle Obama would have worn? The women in attendance at the Royal Wedding all seemed so delicate and feminine ... very pretty.

What a blessing for the monarchy that would be. The Queen Mum lived to be almost 102 so if Queen Elizabeth lives that long she has another 16 years. And she appeared to be quite fit at Friday's royal wedding. Prince Charles has been looking and sounding senile for some time and he's only 63.
