MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- After years of debate, the Alabama Legislature is close to enacting an Arizona-style law cracking down on illegal immigrants and the people who hire them.

But first, the two legislators who have been driving the issue must come together on a bill.

Republican Sen. Scott Beason of Gardendale and Republican Rep. Micky Hammon of Decatur said they are optimistic that will happen.

"Our leadership in the House and Senate is committed to passing a tough immigration bill this year," Hammon said.

Too bad. Let them go ballistic. The people are sending this administration a loud message, and they better listen if they know what’s good for themselves.

Agreed. I want to see them go ballistic, maybe it will convince other states to follow AZ and AL lead.

Ought to be interesting considering that thousands of Mexicans will be flocking to Alabama for all the reconstruction jobs.

I’ve often wondered how English sounds spoken by an Hispanic who learned it from an Alabamian.

Excellent point, hope they get it done soon. This should have the same effect that the AZ law had on illegals picking up stakes and moving out of state.

Well, they better because Georgia just passed a similar law. So unless they do the same Alabama will end up getting many of Georgia’s illegals.

Let American citizens rebuild Alabama. When I was a teenager in the mid to late 70’s most of my male classmates worked construction in the summer. I wish my son could do the same now. Keeps them out of trouble at night because of the early hours and is good, physical labor which beats slobbing around playing computer games. Also, decent pay for teenagers. These jobs are not to be found for American teenagers anymore.

“They going to sue every border state ?”

Good question. This administration is creating a legal war between the federal government and the states. Obama wants an all powerful federal gov’t. and the emasculation of the state governments. Soviet style. Somethin’s gotta give!

Legal wars take time to play out At some point in time SCOTUS will slap this usurper down

Obama wins in 2012 means probaly two SCOTUS picks

One more very important reason he needs to get the boot

This New Jersey ‘’Yankee’’ is proud of the courage and the fortitude shown by the citizens of the “Yellowhammer State’’(that being Alabama, of course) in enforcing the law the Obama Administration won’t. Nor did the Bush Administration either. I’m just one a many Americans fed up with this lawlessness. The cesspools that illegals flee from are that way in large part because there is no respect for and rule of law. The ‘’better life’’ they seek is made possible only by the impartial application of the law. This is first made possible in a society long founded on the respect for and the rule of law. It isn’t always the best of systems but ours works best by far. Illegal immigration nullifies that and brings about a disrespect for the rule of law and then eventual break-down of society as is now being seen in Mexico. And my blood just boils when I hear these criminal, racist Mexican cabrons (’’s.o.b.s’’) telling us we don’t have the right to enforce our own laws is just too much.

About as odd sounding as listening to a black U.K. citizen.
