It’s a good idea to know the details of a story before you pronounce your judgements against people in the story. The journalist had a bodyguard. 200+ men over took the bodyguard and the other men that she was with; separating her from them.

And please, by all means share this admonishment with all those others and their rather less-than-flattering comments concerning this story. I was aware of this incident from previous posts here and when the story first broke . To be fair that is. Thank you. I’ve been accused here of the ‘’blame the victim/she asked for it’’ thing. So let me just share this. Once, a long time ago, some twenty years, I had the rare privilege of the friendship, the trust and eventually the love of a beautiful woman who had been horribly scared in her childhood, first emotionally and physically by two violently alcoholic parents and sexually by the boyfriend of her older sister. And all of this before she was thirteen. What it did to her sense of herself as a person and worthy of honest affection was heartbreaking. For thirty-seven years she closed herself off to love and to affection, even to simple touch. Until I met her. But our lives went different ways. Still I feel honored for her sake to know that at least she knew one man who didn’t want to take anything from her but honestly cared about her and loved her. My point to all this I’ve never been a man to blame a woman for inviting the vicious and soul-destroying crime of rape. (I remember her still. Long straight black hair and pale blue eyes.)
