Primetime interrupted: Osama bin Laden dead

President Obama has endured entertainment industry criticism over the last few years for requesting premium broadcast air time for making speeches. But Sunday night’s abrupt and unexpected interruption is unlikely to draw any complaints.

Multiple news organizations are reporting that the White House is set to announce that, at last, Osama bin Laden is dead. ABC, CBS and NBC have cut away from scheduled programming to cover this enormous news.

With all the back and forth between President Obama and Donald Trump in recent weeks, Twitter flared up with amused conspiracy theories when NBC News cut away from Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice on the East Coast to carry the announcement.

Bin Laden has (or had) 50 brothers and sisters and all kinds of relatives who stopped talking to him.

I know the feeling. I married off my daughter two years ago. Seating arrangements were a horror.

He was likely killed a week ago, but it was announced today after confirmation.

If he was killed last week, Obama will have walk back his statement tonight:

After a firefight, they killed Usama bin Laden and took custody of his body.

Better yet - Chop his head, place it between his legs so he can kiss his ass goodby - then wrap it in bacon and pig urine and shit and - then bury it pointing towards ground zero. Then soak the ground with pig urine to the point that nobody would attempt to dig up the body. Let every soldier piss on his grave.

I didn’t realize the thread was pulled but told my wife the threat level was raised on Sunday morning.

We now know why.

I concur, this was the only Presidential speech he has given. All others were so much acting or window dressing

He took the national blame. He did not take personal credit.

He gave credit where credit was due, unnamed and secret American heroes who served the execution order and insured that there would be no ongoing problems with trials and detention.

One bullet in the head and another through a woman shield is very personal and very very strong indicator of the professional dedication to the mission.
