Exactly! It would be irresponsible for Obama to use this issue during a campaign. His hands are pretty much tied. If he talks about it too often he's inviting terror attacks (which are almost already guaranteed in retaliation).

Petraeus did not want the group that performed the act identified. It is perfectly possible that they were not regular troops. Obama hinted at this in his speech, crediting Leon Panetta. I read that Petraeus pressured Obama not to identify the group and that Obama reluctantly consented.

I’m thinking that this had something to do with the job switch between Petraeus and Panetta.
