Washington Post Writer 'Cringes' at Sight of 'Vulgar' Americans Celebrating Bin Laden's Death

For the Washington Post's Petula Dvorak the sight of American college kids celebrating the death of Osama Bin Laden outside of the White House gates, on Sunday night, was "almost vulgar." In a May 2 story Dvorak described the scenes of joy as "one part Mardi Gras and two parts Bon Jovi concert" but then went on to say "It felt a little crazy, a bit much. Almost vulgar" and went on to admit "my first reaction was a cringe."

Most of them were 20 yr. olds who have known him as our enemy for half their lives. Understandable.

Jeez, that's crazy never though about it that way... If you are in your early 20's half your life was worrying about this evil man. Now I feel old..

Was there something fishy about the 1000s who showed up at Ground Zero or Times Square. Or the 40,000 shouting USA at Citizens Bank Park in Philly?

Not that I could see. This would have been expected at Ground Zero, I saw the CBP video and that was a sincere reaction as was the Times Square reaction. The White House deal was just odd. Something just did not seem right. It seemed contrived.

Did he cringe when the Pallies celebrated the death of the young Israeli family knifed in their own home, handing out treats to each other on the streets?

The ocean? Huh?

Yup. Like the Israelis with Eichmann, we do not want a particular location for his followers/believers to use as a shrine. Personally though, I wish we had cut off his head and stuck it on a pike. We could have planted it alternately between the WTC and the UN thru the summer.

I guess the celebrating West Point cadets were just showing their support for Obama! Get real, people.

You really think most college kids would mourn obl’s death?

What?

You mean you didn’t know about the age-old islamic religious law which requires that muslims be buried at sea within 24 hours of their death?

And you call yourself informed!

;-)

I will say, at least she’s consistent.

A lot of those people celebrating were also the ones whining about waterboarding and Bush going after Saddam. Now that their boy is in the White House, it’s all good.

Would college kids actually celebrate bin Ladens death? I seriously doubt it.

I dunno, at WVU they burned couches in the streets. They partied like the football team had just beaten Ohio State.

Everyone who is celebrating this is showing support for Obama, I guess. It’s just like what we said about the far left during the Bush years. Some people just can’t celebrate a good day for America just because the wrong guy is in the White House.

Eh, they’re just kids in a media-centric world.

I noticed they were mostly short-haired and neatly groomed and they looked happy even when caught from the side. They knew the words to patriotic songs and for all any of us know, they are the silent majority that usually doesn’t demonstrate.

It is the far left that is *cringing* at American *vulgarity*. These kids did not look like zerObots.

I do not like or support the zerO, but credit where it is due. I hope they do decide to release the death photo, even though it will enrage the jihadis.

What about the thousands at the baseball game who chanted “USA USA USA”? Or the cadets at West Point out celebrating? Or those on the subway in NYC? Or ground zero? Or other college campuses? Or people driving honking their horns? Everything isn’t politics.

I was speaking only of the kids shoving their faces in front of the cameras at the White House. As regards your examples, point taken.

I remember many Muzzies celebrating the attacks on the World Trade Center. Where was the Washington Post then?

Don’t forget the midshipman ant the US Naval Academy. I think they would be especially proud of Navy SEALs getting the job done. But as others, like my friends at SOCOM in Tampa, have indicated this is just the end of the beginning. There have been over 13,000 violent acts in the name of Islam (www.religionofpeace.com) since September 11, 2001.
