You went academic on me——I’m thinking not all the sailors wanted the thing to sink that fast? And if the Vinson was doing 30 knots an anvil wouldn’t clear the props. That’s the hard part about falling off a steaming carrier. If they dropped virginboy off the bow, which we know didn’t happen, at 30mph the props would be there in 22 seconds. The package has to sink 35+ feet to clear. 35 vertical feet in 22 seconds would pretty much be a power dive-——just contemplating.
