Calling it a good day for America, President Obama said Monday that the death of Osama bin Laden had made the world a better place, as new details emerged about the overnight raid and firefight in Pakistan that killed him.
The world is safer, Mr. Obama said as he appeared at a White House ceremony bestowing the Medal of Honor to two soldiers killed in the Korean War. It is a better place because of the death of Osama bin Laden.
Bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda and the most hunted man in the world, was found not in the remote tribal areas along the Pakistani-Afghan border where he has long been presumed to be sheltered, but in a massive compound in the city of Abbottabad, about an hours drive north from the Pakistani capital of Islamabad.
The compound, only about a third of a mile from a military academy of the Pakistani Army, is at the end of a narrow dirt road and is roughly eight times the size of other homes in the area. It has no telephone or Internet connections. When American operatives converged on the residence on Sunday, Bin Laden resisted the assault force and was killed in the middle of an intense gun battle, a senior administration official said, but details were still sketchy Monday.

The world is safer becuase we went after these bast**** instead of saying we’ll try them in court...like Clinton did.
US official: New bin Laden tape, recorded shortly beforedeath, expected to surface soon - AP
No, the world is not safer today. We knocked off a retired guy last night. The fronts in this war have moved on, and the threats now are from governments, and all that they have at their disposal - Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Syria...Terrorism is but one of their military strategies in confronting the US.
I don’t know if I would call the world safer. From the Israeli standpoint things have grown far less safe in recent months.
The only advantage I see here is the exposure of Pakistan for what it is.
Obama now calling for a return to unity like after 9/11.
Like when Hitlery Klinton went to the senate floor and waved that newspaper headline.
BUSH KNEW
O can go straight to hell for all I care. I’ll not give the dems the right time. Not now, not ever.
The world be be so much safer at 12:01 pm est on 20 January, 2013.
That’s when our new real president will take over the Oval Office and Present Stroker is no longer in charge.
FBO and all domestic enemies of the Constitution.
This shows just how completely disconnected Obama bin Laden is from reality,
NO BARRY, the world is far LESS safer than before OBL was killed. Al Qaeda is now going to be on an EPIC REVENGE CAMPAIGN. Every military base of ours in CONUS and overseas are now priority targets. Every major city in the US is now a priority target for terror attacks. And I would not be the least bit surprised if the next one is a dirty bomb, which would make the twin towers attack look like an EFF’N FRATERNITY PRANK. And who do we have to come between them and us? Little Janey Nappy and her Department of HOPELESS STUPIDITY.
No Barry, you’re the savior of the world. You just ratcheted up AQ two orders of magnitude. Great job. Killing OBL will prove to be your biggest f’up yet.
Bless the officers and men who were willing to risk their lives to go get this bastard after ten years!!!
You are right... the fronts in this war have moved. IF we are safer today per what our brave little POTUS says, why is the threat level heightened?
But his poll numbers will rise and people are again shouting “Hosanna, Obama!”.
Do you really think he cares about the consequences beyond that?
On 9-11. the world changed.
On 5-1, it changed again.
Neither time for the better.
One terrorist killed under Obama, world is a much safer place.
I see. I get it now.
Obama is an idiot and when the first, second, third + retaliationa by his Muslim brothers occurs..he will have to eat those words. Religion of Peace my arse.
The reward price on OBL’s head was what, $10,000,000.00 ?
Every cent should be given to the Wounded Warriors program.
