Kansas City police arrested more than 50 protesters this morning as they peacefully marched onto the construction site of the billion-dollar Honeywell plant that will produce parts for nuclear bombs.
Police warned the protesters several times to leave, but they refused. Police said the group waited until news cameras arrived and then walked in an orderly fashion toward the plants gates. When company officials closed the gates, the protesters surrounded a truck that was trying to leave the property. Protesters held hands and sang hymns before going peacefully with officers.
Police transported the arrestees to police headquarters using a police bus. Each one was fingerprinted, photographed and booked into the citys jail for trespassing.

My daughter called me this morning after she drove by to see if I could find out what was going on there. She said it looked like a bunch of hippies. Apparently it's out of state catholic commies protesting the construction of the replacement for the Bannister Complex that manufactures parts for nuclear weapons.

parts for nuclear weaponstriggers? Thought Bendix did that.

Westinghouse also subleased part of the plant to Bendix beginning in 1949, which later became Allied Signal. Bendix began operating the facility for the Atomic Energy Commission and building nonnuclear components for nuclear weapons. This portion of the complex became known as the Kansas City Plant. The Kansas City Plant occupied the greatest portion of the complex, and in 1958 Westinghouse moved out and Bendix expanded operations at the Kansas City Plant.Thought Bendix was involved. Probably still is due to patents. And they did good work.

Bendix has been part of Honeywell for years.
This brings back old memories of anit-military hippies protesting at the old Honeywell Plaza campus in Minneapolis back in the 80s. Expecially the time when the Mayor’s wife got cuffed and stuffed. They spun off the “bombs and bullets” business sometime later (now known as Alliant Techsystems).
Any other former Honeywellers here?

I remember it referred to as the Bendix plant back in the eighties.

Probably led by those lesbos :
"U.S. District Judge Robert Blackburn sentenced Ardeth Platte to 41 months, Jackie Hudson to 30 months and Carolyn Gilbert to 33 months. The sentences varied depending on the number of prior arrests each had for previous civil disobedience."
The Dominican nuns were convicted in April of malicious destruction of property and interfering with the national defense for their protest at the unmanned Minuteman III missile silo near Greeley, Colorado on October 6, 2002. "The sisters, who are in their 50s and 60s, belong to Sacred Earth & Space Plowshares, a national nuclear disarmament organization. About 200 supporters of the nuns showed up outside the courthouse with antiwar and anti-nuclear-weapons signs."

The protest was part of a planned weekend of faith and resistance by Midwest Catholic Worker groups. A flyer for the event told participants to arrive in Kansas City Friday night. Saturday called for a history lesson on the plant and Sunday night called for civil disobedience planning and legal advice. Yep! catholic commie workers party operatives like father Berrigan, hammering on nuke silos, pouring their blood on sites, etc. Used to be very active decades ago, must now be getting out of prison and looking to get sent back for more free room and board and geriatric care.
