GENEVA The U.N.'s top human rights official says the global body wants details on the death of Osama bin Laden.
U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay says the raid on the al-Qaida leader's hideaway in Pakistan "was a complex operation, and it would be helpful if we knew the precise facts surrounding his killing."
Pillay has frequently stressed the importance of respecting international law during counter-terror operations

UN human rights boss questions U.S. on legality of bin Laden killing
Canada.com ^| May 3, 2011 | Steven Edwards
UNITED NATIONS The UN’s chief human rights official led calls by rights activist organizations on Tuesday for Washington to explain whether U.S. forces lawfully killed Osama bin Laden. The request by Navi Pillay, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, came even as the world body continues to falter over its multi-year bid to define terrorism...
On the U.S. action in Pakistan Sunday, Pillay agreed that bin Laden was a “very dangerous man” ... But she also said the United States had always “clearly stated they intended to arrest bin Laden if they could.”
Amnesty International said it was seeking “greater clarification” about what went on, while New York-based Human Rights Watch said “law enforcement” principles should have applied.
“If he wasn’t shooting at the soldiers, the killing should be investigated,” Brad Adams, Human Rights Watch Asia director, said in Bangkok at the launch of a report on Thailand.
“People are saying that justice has been done, but justice has not been done. Justice is when you arrest someone and put them on trial.”...

On the upside, the UN is supposed to be Obama’s kind of people; they’re supposed to love and respect him because he’s ‘one of them’. When a Malignant Narcisist like Obama can’t even get the UN moonbats to rally behind him, (1) his real life popularity is probably in the mid to low twenties, and (2) steam must be coming out of *Obama’s* ears. Narcissists don’t like to be questioned, second guessed, or made to look bad. When conservatives do it, he takes revenge. When the UN does it...he fumes and takes another drink—a stiff one.
Couldn’t have said it better!
Liberals always want it both ways... They want to hammer their political opposition and then they break the very laws they used to tear down their opponents....That is the real story and it goes unreported....
Liberals have zero Credibility..
If George Bush was a war criminal, then Barack Obama certainly is one. For the record, I believe that neither are.
cheesy fries.......lol
That's about all they are good for.....but I wouldn't buy 'em.
Note to UN: Go **** yourself
Very well, UN Commissioner Navi Pillay. Certain elements of the Pakistani Gov’t helped hide him. We found him, sent in our SEALs, and we nailed the ****er right in the head and chest. That’s all you need to know.
The DUers were among them, hypocrites that they are. You'd think the war was his idea and he single handedly pulled the trigger, delivering the killing shot himself.
They totally abandoned their anti-war, anti-troops position in making him the hero the other night.
OT: Oh brother...
I agree with your comments. There’s only one reason for Obama to go to New York, and it has nothing to do with honoring anyone but himself. This guy has the most shallow nine year old mind, I’ve ever seen.
I agree.
When I was a kid, there was joke making the rounds with this punch line, “L & M had been kicked out of the alphabet for smoking.”
I’d say F and U are on the short list to be next. So while we still have this window of opportunity, those would be incorporated into my response to the U.N., no matter how indelicate the use may be.
How dare the U.N. or the I.C.C. challenge us on this issue. It’s absurdity to the X.
Nice to see you out Lurker. Why don’t I run into you more often. ;^)
I like your descriptions. I think you’re on to something there.
