Palin cuts ties to Soros-linked aides
Salon ^ | 5/3/11 | Justin Elliott

The big Sarah Palin news today is that she has lost her longtime foreign policy adviser, Randy Scheunemann. Scheunemann is a well-known neoconservative who worked for Jesse Helms and was intimately involved in the push for the Iraq war. He later became an aide to John McCain on the 2008 presidential campaign, where he met and linked up with Palin. He's been associated with her ever since. The question is: Why did they Scheunemann, who runs the lobbying firm Orion Strategies, leave Palin now?

She better get clear of them and forget she ever knew John McCain, they are poison!

McCain was using her as bait to attract real conservatives.

Her new foreign policy advisor is from the Hoover Institute, and will be a welcome improvement over the Kristol/McCainiac loser.

Randy Scheunemann is tied to Soros like someone is tied to a great-great-great-great-great ancestor who was a Redcoat.

This is Kevin Bacon math - Salon and other PDSers are pushing this meme in a pathetic attempt to demoralize Palin supporters.

It would have been a rout without Sarah, Obama might have carried 45 or more states.

I’m glad, as this perhaps seems reflective of a more traditionally conservative Reagan-style approach to foreign policy, as opposed to the expansive Bush-style nation-building approach. But I don’t want to necessarily disparage Scheunemann, as he seemed to be one of the few decent eggs from the McCain camp, in that he remained respectful and supportive of Palin while so many of the others slimeballs gleefully and gratuitously stabbed her in the back following the election.

He worked his ass off for her and championed her cause when few of the others in the campaign would. I hope this parting was amicable, because as best I can tell from this distance, he was one of the good guys.

If he was good enough for Jesse Helms, he should theoretically be good enough for anyone. But of course I can understand why anyone would want to run far away from anything connected to Soros.

Why would anyone treat a Salon screed with credibility, whether in title or scribblings beneath?

In 08, without Palin on the ticket, I probably wouldn’t have bothered to vote at all . . .

Thank you. This is suchwonderful news.
We’ve pinged two announcements earlier today.
Now she’s got a solid Reaganite on her team.

Hardly. Soros was, and as far as I know still is, a paying client of Scheunemann's lobbying firm.
