About two weeks ago, Harry Reid was interviewed for a Hispanic-oriented political show called Mariowire. The interviewer asks Reid for his opinion of Marco Rubio whom, he notes, talks like a member of the GOP despite the fact that he is Latino. Listen to Reids response:

Given all the race-baiting that the left is flinging around these days, I want to be careful not to overstate whats in this clip. I also dont want to understate it. It sounds to me as if Reid is saying thatby aligning himself with the Tea Party or taking a certain position on the debt ceilingMarco Rubio has lost touch with his authentic self.
Perhaps theres another way to parse this, but given the context of the interview, race is the obvious subtext.
Also, one has to consider Reids history of making precisely this sort of race-based political declaration about Hispanic conservatives. Remember this gem from last October?

And as it happens, guess who was there to correct him:

Harry Reid seems to have trouble wrapping his head around the concept that someone can be authentically Hispanic and Republican. As you can see in the clip above, Sen. Rubio believes his views are perfectly consistent with his genuine experience growing up in America.
bttt
The best thing about Marco Rubio, my senator, is that he is NOT Dingy Harry Reid.
Harry Reid says “Get back on the plantation where you belong”.
Harry must leave a trail of slime everywhere he walks!
Yea,the only thing he left out was “you people!”
Why would anyone expect Reid to be any different toward Hispanics than he, and the Democrat Party in general, are toward Blacks?
“We can’t have people voting in ways that are unapproved by Big Brother.” —Harry Reid
Reid is an idiot. People who identify themselves as Hispanics are almost evenly divided between Dem and Pubbie. During the big illegal alien protests of 2006 a poll of Tucson Hispanics resulted in 47% against the protesters. I thought that was pretty significant given the place, a city in AZ, and the passion of the issue with all the propaganda flying.
