The Osama Bin Laden Takedown, Tweet By Tweet [INFOGRAPHIC]
Mashable ^ | 5/4/2011 | Jolie O'Dell

Posted on 05/04/2011 7:42:05 PM PDT by Forgiven_Sinner

Here’s an interesting infographic showing confirmed facts of the raid that ended the life of Osama bin Laden — along with a play-by-play of tweets from @ReallyVirtual, the IT guy who happened to be a couple of kilometers away from the action as it was happening.

Social media startup Namesake has handily compiled the information, which includes a pre-raid timeline of intelligence gathering and operation planning as well as a post-raid breakdown of announcements and bin Laden’s burial at sea.

For another look at the interaction between the social web and this world news event, check out our roundup of social media reactions to bin Laden’s death.

The 3:15 p.m. time for the Situation Room photo is bogus, and so is the “watching live via Predator drone” claim. The photo is timestamped 4:05 p.m. Whatever they were watching, it wasn’t live video of the assault.

Your darn tootin’ this timeline is wrong... I had just got off the phone with Osama after calling Microsoft’s troubleshooting hotline for problems with my Windows Vista! He was a great help!

Maybe they were watching a replay of the Trump Roast speech.

And to think: this was once a site where people cared about facts and research....

In the unlikely event that anyone on this thread wishes to confirm the Situation Room photo timestamp, freeware to extract digital photo metadata is available here.

It sez that obozo “signed” the kill order?

Let’s see it! I very much doubt he did.

Yep, it might be the first operational use of the software that was advertised a few months ago as providing a tool for covert operatives to "manage multiple personalities" on social media sites.

What reason does anyone have to believe the tweets originated in Pakistan?

and so is the “watching live via Predator drone” claim.

Source? From what I've seen, the link from the helmets to the AWAC was cut off, not an aerial feed from a drone.

Sure, they might not have known what was going on room from room. But, they had an overall scene of the raid.

I read somewhere that international reporters that were allowed to look the place over noted a clocked ripped from the wall which had stopped at 2:20 (that would be AM)

Tweet:

"Helicopter hovering above Abbottabad at 1AM (is a rare event)"

Star Tribune:

"But the strong Pakistani military presence in Abbottabad, a garrison city with a military academy near the compound, provided a cover of sorts for the Americans. No one would be particularly surprised to hear choppers flying at night."

You are right, it is interesting.

Check this thread. According to CIA Director Panetta, there was no live video broadcast of the raid.

Even if there had been, this timeline showing the WH group watching "live" in the Situation Room is refuted by the photo timestamp.

Don’t be too harsh, as the story has evolved more times than that TOE claimed single cell eons ago. I am NOT disagreeing with your post...

Yeah, I saw that.

Nothing in that article disproves what I said.

There was no helmet feed. Period. That's it.

So obviously, they didn't know what exactly was going on in the compound. But, they had an overall scene of the raid.

Panetta, says no
