<Sen) Saxby Chambliss: First shot at Osama bin Laden was a miss
ajc.com ^ | 5-5-11 | Jim Galloway

U.S. commandos missed with their first shot at Osama bin Laden, when the world’s most wanted man poked his head out of a third-floor room to see what was headed his way, according to U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, the ranking Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Bin Laden ducked back in, and the Navy SEALS quickly followed and finished the job, Chambliss said in a telephone interview this afternoon.

The missed shot was a new detail in the emerging story of the 40-minute raid on the Abbottabad compound in Pakistan. Chambliss also said commandos found a pistol and AK-47 in bin Laden’s room.

More details to come later, but here’s what Chambliss said:

”I hope they went in with the idea of killing him, not capturing him. We needed to take this guy out. And I know that’s what the executive order said.

“The other thing you have to remember is that this was pitch dark. When they got into the room with bin Laden, they already had to go through some other folks downstairs, two of which they killed. And they were having to use explosives to blow doors open. By the time they got to him, they didn’t know what they would find.”

The SEALS encountered bin Laden on the third floor of the compound, after blowing a door that led down a hallway, Chambliss said.

”They blew the door open, and they looked down the hallway and he stuck his head out of the room that he was in, and saw them, and ducked back in. They fired a shot, and missed him the first time – and then went to the room. And that’s when they killed him.”

Why did the Senator release this information? Seems to me he has violated the secrecy of testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee? I do not agree this information needed to be shared!

He “released it” because the administration told him to. Obama and the Dems are getting no traction with their version of events so now they are recruiting RINOS to do their bidding.

So OBK did have an AK47? I’m as confused as Carney.

How does he know this information, it sounds like he must have been privy to some VIDEO that does not exist.

That a whole lot of information to have been told him and then try to remember what was said???

So he was either reading a script or actually saw the video that was taken, which does not exist.

The mismanagement of the communications continues. Carney has no further details, but now Chambliss provides a play-by-play.

Once again I do not believe any of them. Where did the bullet go that missed OBL? I have seen the video that is out of the compound you would think they would show bullet holes in the walls? Did I miss that?

“... privy to some VIDEO that does not exist.’

Why do you think there is no video? I think there’s video and audio and photos and transcripts of debriefings.

There are more discrepancies in this story than you will ever find in the JFK assassination. Obama made one big mistake when this job was finished. The mistake? Failing to name one person, and one person only, to give the facts on what happened. He should have assigned the job of spokesman to someone (for example perhaps Panetta) - then Panetta could have given one story on what happened, stick to that story, and no one would be able to contradict his statement of facts. However, Bozo allowed more than one person to explain EXACTLY what occurred, as such, discrepancies immediately followed. TSK TSK . . . he should have known better.

I'm sure he has been briefed already by the CIA and Pentagon, based upon his postion. This probably came out during the briefing. My question is, was this info approved for released? I would think not!
