He placed a wreath at Ground Zero, met with 9/11 firefighters and vowed that, when we say we will never forgot, we mean what we say. But it seems like the president did overlook one detail putting names on the invitations to 9/11 families.
The administration apparently sent out form-letter invites to 50 hand-picked relatives of 9/11 victims, which began Dear 9/11 family member. At least one family has turned down the request, saying that they felt the letter was impersonal.
If this form letter was the invitation, it was kinda lame, said John Vigiano, who lost two heroic sons one a firefighter and the other a police officer in the attack. Im honored the president of the United States is coming to New York, he said. [But] to me its just going to be a photo op.
The form-letter does seem a bit lame, especially since the family members were chosen beforehand. It shouldnt have been difficult for the White House to type out 50 names on stationary. This isnt something that will dampen the good-will New Yorkers have toward Obama, but it is an unfortunate mistake. Its the first time Obama has been to pay his respects at Ground Zero since taking office, and this flub does make him come off as detached.
Did Michelle Obama bother to go to Ground Zero to meet with the families?
P.S. Whoever wrote the article needs to learn the difference between stationary and stationery... :)
Impeach him for an etiquette failure toward Most Favored Victims? Puh-leeze.
The place for commentary is in a response, not in the title.
What a pr#ck Obama is. This was a photo-op to him, that’s all.
IF any portion of this lands in a campaign commercial then they were brought there under false pretenses. Sue the SOB for fraud and toss in a couple million more for emotional distress.
It's all he needed folks! (Just show up; so he can get that photo op, and 'campaign footage' for his later promotion.
(And we can guess, who 'thanked' who, for being there.)
Well it’s not suprising. As we have seen in the past Mr.Soetoro only respects the feelings and rights of the terrorist. Don’t hurt KSM. Try KSM as a respectable US citizen.
LOL at your PS. Spell check only checks that the word is spelled correctly, not that you’re used the correct word. Of course, the little trick is “stationEry” goes in an Envelope. :)
“What a pr#ck Obama is. This was a photo-op to him, thats all.”
And not near as impressive as a flight to a carrier. lol
Its the first time Obama has been to pay his respects at Ground Zero since taking office, and this flub does make him come off as detached.
Obama is a moron..
Sorry but I think it goes way beyond that. It’s proof positive that today was nothing but a photo-op and material for a campaign commercial.
In addition, rarely does another FReeper post from this source (Commentary) so the odds of a dupe occurring due to my editorializing in the headline is marginal.
Well, to be fair to Obama, I doubt if he sat down and personally wrote these letters. It was his staff that screwed up.
Well, I admit, there’s a bit of sarcasm there. After all, who was it that chose his staff? Obama!
No president in history has had a more idiotic, incompetent, and ideologically extremist staff than Barack Hussein Obama. He is surrounded by flaming incompetents. So this kind of mistake is hardly surprising. It happens about a hundred times a day, every day.
Raw sewage everywhere take umbrage to your analogy...
Dear current White House resident,
What a sad sorry blemish you are on the office you hold.
Dear 9/11 family member,
I’m comming up for re-election soon. I would like you to join me in a photo op at ground zero. If you wear Obama gear, we will put your name in a hat. At the end of the ceremony, we wil pull a name from the hat. The lucky winner gets a free waiver from my unconstitutional health care law. Hope to see you there!
B. Hussein Obama
