Osama is (was) much more high-profile from a religious standpoint than Saddam's two thug kids. I don't recall any sort of a potential backlash (let alone an actual one) when they assumed room temperature, probably because they were not only thugs (one of them had had the Iraqi Olympic Soccer Team tortured after a loss, iirc) but also fairly secularized. Gave the US a little bit more flexibility in dealing with their remains..

I understand your sentiments exactly....and to an extent I share them.

But another part of me argues on behalf of accurate history.

Historians have the reputation of being dull, academic wonks and nerds, overly-striving for accuracy, detail, even minutia in their search for truth to pass down to posterity.

But, thank God for these "nerds" and their efforts throughout the centuries to bring us detailed and accurate accounts of what happened in their day.

Even today, readers appreciate and study the smallest details about the lives, careers and deaths of historical figures such as the Borgias and Napoleon, for example.

Therefore, all data about the death of the mass murderer, OBL, should be accurately reported and recorded despite the offhand, understandable "who cares" attitude of many of us.

An attitude of not pressing for accurate details is exactly what the D.C. thugocracy surrounding Obama wants.

The Obama administration wants today's history, including the unvarnished facts of OBL's death, to be distorted, obliterated, revised.....and above all to be entirely about the daring feats of Obama, not the Truth.

Whether he was washed in urine, thrown out of the helicopter to save fuel going back to the ship, or wrapped in swadling clothes and dumped over the side, the end result is still the same.
