Barack Obama: Clean energy will deliver the ‘jobs of the future’

By: MJ Lee May 7, 2011 09:22 AM EDT

For the third weekend in a row, President Barack Obama used his weekly address to the nation on Saturday to promote his energy agenda, calling clean energy jobs the “jobs of the future.”

Speaking from the Allison Transmission plant in Indianapolis, where he visited on Friday, Obama lauded the workers at the hybrid technology manufacturing company for doing “big and impressive things.”

“The clean energy jobs at this plant are the jobs of the future – jobs that pay well right here in America,” the president said. “And in the years ahead, it’s clean energy companies like this one that will keep our economy growing, create new jobs, and make sure America remains the most prosperous nation in the world.”

On Friday, Obama renewed his call for an end to tax subsidies for oil companies, saying profitable firms in the industry don’t need the extra $4 billion of tax benefits every year. “If you’re already paying them at the pump, we don’t need to pay them through the tax code,” the president said, echoing the topic of last week’s address. “Especially at a time when we’re scouring every part of the budget to try to figure out how we bring down our deficit and our debt.”

Didn’t I read somewhere that a number of these green-energy enterprises are going belly-up?

Another government boondoggle, paid for by our tax dollars. Obama is truly trying to destroy this country.

Another intangible. More BS — no substance. This guy is totally beatable in 2012.

This clown is like a broken record. He's been saying this same thing since he was inaugurated and his "green jobs" program hasn't generated anything but hot air and bovine manure.

It just boggles the mind that anyone could listen to him and believe what he is saying. It has to be willful ignorance; that's the only rational explanation for it.

If Barry doesn't fix the present he won't have a future.

No one on the left has a clue how the real economy works.

Guess we all need to move to China and the 3rd world countries to get one of these wonderful jobs...it’s where pollution is rampant!

Yeah, we will all be harvesting plants for bio fuel similar to what the Khamer Rouge did in Cambodia. To the fields you all as the great one flies over head onto his next vacation.

Sheesh! I didn’t realize that we were “scouring every part of the budget” to see if we could find a way to bring down our debt??

Where in the heck was I when all this was going on??

He’s trying to fabricate companies out of nothing and under government control. It has never worked and never will. The USSR tried this and look what happened to them. They went broke.

He has uttered this nonsense over and over. WE don’t need “jobs of the future”, we need jobs now (in case has has chosen to, or failed to read the latest official job numbers (which understate the REAL unemployment numbers by a significant margin).

Well, I believe in the Second Coming also.

Thing is, only the Father knows the day and the hour.

Still, I’d bet that the Second Coming comes before “clean energy” becomes economically practical.

Well that just sounds hunky-dory. Clean energy jobs...I’m convinced this guy really knows what he’s talking about.

Everyone wants clean energy jobs (probably run by robots) To hell with our farms, our way of life as we know it and our freedoms to choose.

Let’s all rejoice in the Fascist Coming and those ‘clean energy jobs’ by golly.

All of this is being done on purpose folks. It's the total re-figuration of how America works and lives. Barry wants to create a powerful special-interest group of upper-middle class elites who answer to him and the rest of the liberal elites while the rest of us remain barely above poverty.

I'm not confident in the Republicans aside from Palin and I know that this old dog isn't going to lie down for anyone. Things are going to come to a head real quick. I highly recommend that people who value their freedom and liberty begin making preparations.
