Because haters gotta hate.

Over the past decade, a new type of "conservative" has sprung up. It used to be that conservatives didn't use personal invective to attack their political opponents, they used reasoned argument. Emotional attacks were strictly the purview of the left.

For some reason, it has now become common for conservatives to use ad hominem and twist facts to score political points in exactly the same manner as the liberals whom I used to hold in contempt--for that precise reason.

I do not believe it is a coincidence that this rise of the emotionally driven "conservative" has occurred concurrently with the rise of the Paul-bearer movement and libertarianism in the mainstream of politics.

Whenever there is a cult of personality, such as with Obama and with Paul, emotions run high and the ground work is set for personal attacks against any who dare to question the cult leader.

That's why they can't just leave it alone.

All those words can be summed up in, "all you trash out there sit down and shut up, my dad gives me a lot of money and he wants to be president for his own ego, now sit down and shut the hell up."

not going to happen little girl, not going to happen.

If Newt is elected POTUS, make sure you have a massive umbrella, ‘cause pigs are gonna be flying!

This puts to rest some fiction that many believed to be true when it wasn’t. The wife pretty much let that fiction hang out there, until this revelation by Jackie.

As for Newt, he will be a force whether anyone likes it or not, not to say that he will win, but he is a genius and VERY persuasive, except on his personal life which has taken a turn for the better. No one beats him in a debate, so brace yourself.

Good post, but what is your evidence that "Paulistas" or libertarians in general are the ones who most use personal invective in political debate?

I think it is mostly "social conservatives" who do this.

Agree with Dr. Ron Paul or not, he's hardly the type to inspire a "cult of personality". He's kind of got the face that only a mother (who looks like him) could love.

Use your children as a shield and character doesn't matter.

She's 44. I think she can make up her own mind.

This is to my mind an obvious attempt at rehabilitation of Newt's image with the SOCONS by having his daughter come out and declare his divorces OK.

How's that "character" thing working out with Obama?

Obaama, not so much.

Now Biden, *he's* quite the character.

"Stand up, Chuck!"

Cheers!

Newt will announce his candidacy for president this Wednesday. Of the ones now running, I would vote for Newt.

Yeah, because the senate did not remove him. On the other hand if they had Al Gore would have become president and we can be sure how he would have handled the terrorist attacks on 9/11. You can be sure he would have done nothing and we would have been attacked several times
