I will be visiting my (Jewish) relatives in the NYC area in a couple of weeks and will be very interested to see if their views have changed at all in the past few months. As a conservative, I’m definitely one of the black sheep of the family (but not the only one), and I have often had to bite my tongue so hard at family gatherings that it nearly drew blood. My mom, however, cannot stand Obama - she genuinely thinks he’s a Communist, and I quite agree. She traveled to Israel last year for the first time, and reported back that the anti-Obama sentiment is almost universal. They cannot understand how Americans could be so stupid, especially American Jews.

You'll find that except for the real radicals (who have a very self-serving agenda), most of them don't know very much about American politics, political history, economics, and economic history. Unfortunately, there is particularly great ignorance about Franklin D. Roosevelt, his somewhat subtle antisemitism (including his refusal to admit a shipload of German Jewish refugees desperately trying to escape Nazism), and his role in extending the Great Depression. Roosevelt has been built into a false icon through the generations in too many Jewish families, which serves as a phony basis for a continued loyalty to the 'Rat party.

I'm very well aware of the anti-Obama sentiment in Israel. Even in the 2008 election, before he had any influence on Middle East policy, Americans abroad in Israel voted about 75% for McCain. It's a different world there when you have to live in a neighborhood surrounded by violent enemies.

No way Jews vote 90+% 'Rat nationally today. Even 'Rat organizations that have a vested interest in overstating the 'Rat vote wouldn't give you a number that high.

Obama's vote among Jews nationally was probably no higher than 70% in 2008, despite very questionable numbers showing him as high as 78%. In 2012, assuming he is the 'Rat candidate, look for him to get no more than 50 to 60% of the Jewish vote.

My understanding is that religiously observant Jews, esp. Orthodox, are FAR more conservative than the "Secular" Jews that are Jewish by heritage, but haven't likely set foor in a Temple in 30 years.

Yes, that would be an accurate statement, statistically. But there are some religiously observant Jews who lean left, and some "secular" Jews - some here on FR - who are staunchly conservative politically.

That is a sharp drop off in support - although he should receive ZERO votes since he hates Judaism and Israel, in particular, and denigrates Jewish contributions to America. In fact, he HATES the USA now that I think of it.

While, I too, can’t believe in the Useful Idiot syndrome of Liberal Jews, I ask you to remember the Liberal Catholics who invited Obama to speak at Notre Dame all the while knowing of Obama’s support of partial-birth abortions.

When it comes to voting, Jews are an enigma.
WE are comlpex.

i suspect that you know little about Jews. Jews have never voted 90% Democrat. And in local race, a majority will vote for the right Republican. Giulliani and Bloomberg have carried the Jewish vote in 5 straight elections, twice against Jewish Democrats.

Ditto the 97% of blacks who voted for Obama - you are absolutely correct! The more sad part ETR, is that most of them are likely gung-ho intent to make the same mistake twice, even knowing their quality of life and financial well-being have been substantially negatively impacted by Obama since his election. Calling them "useful idiots" is probably complimentary considering that.
