A senator on Sunday called for a "no-ride list" for Amtrak trains after intelligence gleaned from the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound pointed to potential attacks on the nation's train system.

Sen. Charles Schumer said he would push as well for added funding for rail security and commuter and passenger train track inspections and more monitoring of stations nationwide.

"Circumstances demand we make adjustments by increasing funding to enhance rail safety and monitoring on commuter rail transit and screening who gets on Amtrak passenger trains, so that we can provide a greater level of security to the public," the New York Democrat said at a news conference.

... because 'terrorism' is the root passphrase for the U.S. Constitution. The government can do anything it wants as long as it has some tenuous link to 'terrorism' to justify it.

This has got to be one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in a while. Not surprised it comes from that brainless schemer.

Is there anyone else out there who can't, in 30 seconds come up with at least 3 ways to destroy a train that don't require you to ever come anywhere near boarding it? Especially if you posit that one might be willing to commit suicide to git 'er done?

Oh oh. Time to put me on a no fly/drive/ride/walk watchlist because I have a little more intelligence than your average houseplant.

Saw him on FOX and what he actually called for was for feds to check train “manifolds”, just as they now check airline “manifolds”.

Not only has this not drawn a correction from the media, it’s being posted as if it’s correct! (shaking my head) This clip’s a perfect metaphor for the shape we’re in.
