Senate blocks Obama choice for No. 2 at Justice

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republicans on Monday blocked President Barack Obama's choice for the No. 2 job in the Justice Department and dampened talk that Osama bin Laden's death might usher in bipartisan cooperation on terrorism matters.

The 50-40 vote, short of the Senate's required 60-vote threshold, sidelined Obama's monthslong drive to make official James M. Cole's position as deputy attorney general.

((snip))

Some saw the vote Monday, which Senate Democrats kept open for about 40 extra minutes, as an early sign of whether Republicans might give Obama the national security team he seeks. Only Sen. Dick Lugar, R-Ind., crossed partisan lines. At the last minute, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., changed his vote to 'no' to comply with obscure rules that allow him to bring up the nomination at a later point.

Holder is on the take and don’t tell me the Pubs don’t know it.

But he goes on and on and I’ve yet to see Boehner or McConnell on the air lambasting that dishonest thief.

Dear Indiana Republicans, please vote for Lugar’s opponent in the Republican primary next spring. It’s time for Lugar to retire.

We need to unload both Lugar and Hatch. I’d almost prefer a RAT to Lugar because you know a RAT won’t help you. Lugar is a snake in the grass RINO who’s been in the Senate for 34 years. Time for him to go!!!

We thought that Republicans never show backbone? Well, they did this time. I also have additional good news. You might remember last year when I pinged you about Robert N. Chatigny, the leftist Federal Judge from Connecticut who intervened on behalf of a serial killer and was later nominated by Obama for the Federal Court of Appeals. Well, Chatigny withdrew after Republicans formed a united front against him.

It isn’t over yet.

Only Sen. Dick Lugar, R-Ind., crossed partisan lines.

This is the reason Lugar must be defeated in the Primary.
