Gingrich's third wife to take central role in presidential bid (NYT title)
NYT ^ | 5/11/2011 | NYT

'Callista and I' Barely a sentence goes by without Mr. Gingrich uttering the words “Callista and I.” They are constantly together — at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast in Washington, at conservative political conferences, at book signings and screenings of their documentary films. She is the voice on his audio books; her face is all over his 2012 Web site, where visitors can read “A Note from Newt & Callista.”

At Villanova University on a recent Thursday night, Mrs. Gingrich warmed up the audience for a showing of the couple’s movie about Pope John Paul II by signing books and DVDs in her left-handed curlicue. But when asked whether she is ready for the scrutiny a campaign would bring, she smiled tightly and grew silent.

...“They would say they wished they had met in a different time in their lives under different circumstances,” said Jackie Cottrell, a friend who worked with Mrs. Gingrich as a staff member on Capitol Hill. “But it’s important to note that they brought their family together in a loving way.”

Mr. Gingrich took up golf because his wife plays; she has adopted his political agenda. In 2009, after years of attending Mass to hear her sing in her church choir, he converted to Catholicism. And when Mrs. Gingrich, who plays French horn with the city band in Fairfax, Va., appears in concerts, her husband totes her black instrument case. “I’m a band groupie and a choir groupie,” Mr. Gingrich likes to say.

How many has he got? This is sounding like a campaign seraglio.

Could have told ‘em this.
Newt is not capable as running as a ‘Pubbie due to “family value” issues.
He’d make a decent Democrat, though.

This is why he can forget ever getting the GOP nomination. If you can’t run your private life better than he has, why should we trust him to lead the nation? His life is a testimony to bad judgment.

Jeez, three wives.

Bin Laden only had five.

Just one keeps me hopping...

Callista's a home-wrecker.

I never did see what was wrong with Marianne.

As a South Park Republican I can forgive this, but I don’t know that the electorate as a whole can do the same.

I have *other* issues w/Newt, don’t get me wrong.

I’d love to have someone adopt some of his “To Renew America” era ideas, but he’s not the right messenger.

Can’t wait for an opponent to bring out the

“As John Kerry would say, having Newt in the primary is so very French, apparently continental enlightenment is not only for Massachusetts progressives”

If she takes center, will the other two be on each side??? How does that impact the position of number four.

He proposed to Calista while he was still married to Marianne. He proposed to Marianne while he was still married to Wife #1. Both times, the current wife had no clue that he had a successor wife on deck.

Poor character is poor character. He has major issues with discernment.

Pelosi with blonde hair. This explains the ‘couch’.

Just look at all of the baggage Newt carries around. His multiple marriages. Hanging out on the loveseat with Pelosi. Endorsing Scuzzyfava. Joining with Hillary for a federal medical records program. And just his entire swarmy Beltway mentality that is so out of place in this age of the Tea Party.

It must take a hurculean ego to not treat that baggage as a fatal liability for a presidential run.

Let’s face it, “Newt” just isn’t a presidential name.

I'm so depressed. We have to win the 2012 election and Barry is the weakest incumbent since Jimmuh. But we don't have a candidate.
