Perhaps if they spent $0.010 billion on some decent pass defense, they’d get better results

= = =

Seriously, how long are the Vikings required to stay in Minnesota for this kind of money?
How much are the Vikings putting up?
What happens to the Metrodome?
Will the sale of the Metrodome land be applied to the stadium?
Does the price include road modifications to handle the traffic?

If these are answered like I think they’re going to be answered, then that is a lot of money for ~200 games (10 games/year x 20 years)

If it’s not an outdoor stadium, forget it.

If it’s an outdoor stadium, then find private investors.

My thoughts are that people both liberal and conservative will line-up to vote in favor of giving hundreds of millions of dollars to a private industry so that they can build a production facility to play football.

And most of the folks voting to pay for a new stadium for private industry are the very same folks who claim that hate Socialism.

Oh, the irony!

Oh, the hypocrisy!

Ain't that the truth!

I’m thinking a Minneapolis casino to pay for an Arden Hills stadium would go over like the proverbial pregnant high-jumper.

Marx Dayton just came out today and said the state wouldn't accelerate or move the road improvement schedule to accommodate an Arden Hills stadium.

No taxpayer money should ever be used for garbage like this.

You know, I've always thought the same thing. But I'm beginning to think that The People might as well get something out of the politicians that tax us to the hilt at the point of a gun. I must be going soft.

They’re also going to add a minor league baseball team, apparently.

The Twins have been playing like a minor league team all year.

Two words that will bring the V’s back to greatness: outside stadium.

Didn't Bud Grant ban heaters and gloves for the Viqueens back in the 70s? (IIRC, he said they could have them once they won a Super Bowl)

“Exactly. It’s no coincidence they haven’t been back to the Super Bowl since moving indoors.”

To be fair, they were about as close as you can get to the Super Bowl without actually getting there, two years ago (OT loss to the Saints).

Besides the Saints and the Colts, has any other domed team won the Superbowl? Not that I can think of.

Close only counts in Horseshoes and hand grenades.

So the 100 year+ arrangement of NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB teams playing, for the most part, in publicly financed facilities has been one big exercise in socialism? Seriously? Ever been to a Super Bowl party? Pinko. How about that park down your street? Is that socialism or communism?

They played outside for many years. No S-Bowl then either.

“Ever been to a Super Bowl party?”

I’m shocked that a Vikings fan would know anything about Super Bowl parties.

This is the state that voted in Al Franken as a US Senator. I’m betting that a construction company will bid $1 billion and they’ll give them $3 billion. They’ll tear down their big mall and then build the stadium in Iowa.

Actually it’s more of an example of crony capitalism. Tax dollars benefiting politically connected private concerns.

Just as despicable IMO.
