This is so stupid it makes ones brain spin. What is he going to carry a scale around and randomly weigh kids? I have an idea, let kids play. The schools have cut out PE, taken down play equipment, they can’t play tag or other running games.......good lord. I personally know at least a dozen kids who were obese when they were young. None of them ate more than any other kids, but their metabolism was different. By the time ALL these kids were teenagers, they were normal weight. None of them went on a specific diet, but their body mechanics changed.

My own sister always had a weight problem, and still does. She ate what we ate, but her system was different. She spent a lifetime dieting, until finally, her husband told her to quit, that she was ruining her health, and he loves her the way she is. She's not morbidly obese, but enough that she would have to pay taxes on her fat. What a ridiculous statement this congresscritter made.

Regarding tax credits in general, this is what we get once we allowed them to use the tax code for social engineering on ANY level rather than just a source of income to run government functions.

We have become so accustomed to child credits, mortgage interest credits, zillions of tax loopholes for business that taxes are now more a source of behavior modification than a source of revenue to fund the VERY LIMITED functions of the federal government as so outlined in the US Constitution.

A better option would be to limit food stamp money / SNAP so that it can only be used to buy healthy stuff. No soda, no candy, no Little Debby. The tax payer no longer subsidizes junk food, those on food stamps eat healthier, and the general public does not lose their freedoms.

Notice he wants to use a state tax deduction as an incentive to punish parents of obese children. So only the half of the population that pays taxes would be affected. It would make more sense to deduct funds from the welfare checks/food stamp cards of these parents.

I still think this would be wrong, but it is more wrong to design the bill to only punish the taxpayers, not the tax eaters.
