I will certainly spring for this interesting vehicle, which I believe was featured on the History Channel in "NAZI Wonder Weapons of 1976." I am particularly impressed with the styling, which should be a smash at the tough biker bars in Provincetown.

However, before I place an order, I must be assured that the dash console will accommodate the 8-track from my 1966 912 cabriolet without serious alterations. There is also the problem of the 912 fitted luggage that must be addressed. I also wonder if the microwave and adapter from from my Freightliner can be used.

In re "making love in a Triumph Spitfire," at exactly what speed did the act occur, and were there witnesses? No big deal if the vehicle were stationary. It was certainly possible, especially with the bonnet tipped forward and the Triumph Spitfire Privacy Screen (still available from Moss Motors) erected.

In the meantime gentlemen, may I suggest that the entire design team for the Jap Porsche project be temporarily assigned to nuclear clean-up at Fukushima? The radiation might shrink their brain tumors to the point where they could work on a useful project, like equipping American family vehicles with 2.5 liter turbo-charged smart diesel engines, so we could power up w/o using foreign oil. Think 50mpg. Also in the meantime, I shall continue work on my history project. I am wondering how a nation, which to date has produced no one capable of correctly and safely operating a motor vehicle, could have bombed Pearl Harbor with aircraft.

Chapter 18 of my SMITHS manual advises: when on a snow-covered frozen lake, or when using factory OEM tyres, one should admit a speedo error factor of of 10-25%.

But chapter 1 of “Welcome to Leyland” suggests that SMITHS gauges are subject to much higher error factors than that under the most ideal conditions.

To make things worse, the LUCAS people say you can’t trust anything if the radio’s turned on. And I distinctly remember listening to “Karma Chameleon” on CKTS 900 as the car pitched and yawed.

So regarding the speed of the vehicle, I guess it is impossible to know.

Dear Mr. Golux,

We here at LUCAS noted your post with some dismay. Our systems work by means of scientific manipulation of the mysterious rays which pass through the ether known as "electricity." It is found in nature (see Encyc. Britt: "Electric" shocking eels and rays, which render their prey immobile by means of electro-magnetism) but may sometimes be "conducted" along paths constructed of copper wire, which has proven no end of fun for young, technically minded hobbyists! For example, several young fellows have reported that by electrically "exciting" crystals of quartz, they can receive MarconiGrams from HRH Ships at sea!

We have found that this mysterious vital force can also be used to ignite petrol under the appropriate safeguards and conditions, none of which, if I may be so bold, do you appear to be observing.

It is negative comments such as yours that have caused me to direct our staff away from the idle frippery of the motoring hobby, toward socially responsible work on projects that benefit mankind, viz "The British Pub Beer Cooler," which shows great promise and will soon be delivered to the public houses of the realm, quite possibly in time for the Coronation.

Our partner company, Smiths, advises you that if it is absolutely necessary to use your vehicle in inclement weather, you may use the moistened digit approach to estimating speed. However, be advised that by using your vehicle under such conditions, you thereby invalidate your Lucas Warranty.

Sincerely,
A. Volta,
Chief Engineer, Electromagnetical Working Party
& Customer Service

I just spent a week driving the 911 turbo S. My Gawd, what a car! 530 horses, yet heated seats and automatic headlights cost extra. Still, if I could afford it - and was ready for a divorce - I’d buy it tomorrow!

Yeah Porsche likes their options. The latest gen 997TT is a phenomenal car, faster with PDK and launch control than even it's prodigous HP figures suggest - bet that was a fun week.
