A Gwinnett County woman shot and killed an intruder Wednesday morning.

According to police, the 53-year-old woman was in the shower when the man broke into her home on E. Mount Tabor Circle.

The intruder went into the bathroom with a kitchen knife and attempted to assault the woman, according to police. The woman fell in the shower and hit her attacker with the shower rod.

Police said the intruder forced the woman into the bedroom where where its believed he was going to sexually assault her.

The victim was able to retrieve her .22 cal. pistol and shoot the attacker multiple times.

The man ran into the backyard and collapsed, police said. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Women who live nearby said that the intruder got what he deserved.

“I know she did the right thing and I’m glad it ended up that way,” said Gina Brown, a neighbor. "Better that he got it than she got it,” Brown said.

“I’m a good Christian woman, but I’d do the same thing,” Marsha Day, another neighbor said.

The victim was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Duluth with minor injuries and is expected to be okay.

She is not expected to be charged.

“We have absolutely no problem with any civilian defending themselves (against) any kind of deadly threat such as this," said Cpl. Edwin, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Thank God the weapon was loaded and not useless in a safe.

The two I’ve seen at the range have jamming and stove piping problems. The gun dealer I buy from says to wait a year or two and see if the manufacturer figures out why and fixes it. He thinks it’s in the mag construction not the basic blow-back system. In the meant time, I think there’s an eight or nine-shot .22 magnum revolver still being produced.

Tango Uniform Perpetrator

The liberal turds in the georgia general assembly punchbowl have been trying for years to pass a law that would require all of your firearms to either be locked away or have a trigger lock on them. Than God for this woman's sake that nonsense hasn't passed.

Guess what was conspicuously ABSENT from the localTV news (news that notoriously covers things like traffic accidents etc.)? Why this story was. I’m guessing that it didn’t fit with their anti-gun editorial policy. I obviously couldn’t watch all of the local channels, but didn’t see it on any of the ones I watched. Local radio covered it as their top story.

Yep, a .22 mag is much better than a .22

Both will work if aimed right.

Unfortunately, I live in Maryland and can’t have one.

Free men need not ask permission, pack up and leave MD. A lot of states have a better environment.
