My son is a Infantry Platoon Leader, and is to deploy to Afghanistan in January. After the last incident ALL the company officers agreed that when around ANG troops that two riflemen will observe and provide cover at all times. They will have shoot first authority (current ROE's be damned) They agreed the it would be better "to be tried by 12 than carried by 6"

Good! We did the same thing in VN when appropriate. Please thank your son for his service.

My son just started his deployment, and you are correct the Platoon leaders gave them the talk about how to work with the Afghans, and DO NOT TRUST THEM FOR 1 SECOND AND NEVER, EVER LET THEM WALK BEHIND YOU!!!

I’m glad of that. I don’t know why we are offering up our brightest and best to the PC gods.

Most Afghanis are probably reliable or simply don’t care, but the country has a corrupt and Islamified military/police establishment, and ignoring this ranges from foolishness to malicious neglicence.
