CNN: Gates gave a speech today blasting the fact so many raid and Navy Seal details were released by the government. Gates said this in front of several thousand US Marines.

I believe Gates was either an 0-1 or 0-2 in the Air Force. The guy was mainly a CIA/Intelligence stooge and commissioned in the Air Force because his intel back-round. Gates is also arrogant as hell. The guy has an "acedemic/textbook" worldview, he is not effective "at fighting guerrilla warfare(Soft power bull feces)" or war in general as well as overseeing the Defense Department. Gates, another failed Republican/Bush "legacy", no wonder Obama retained him. But "he" got Osama, right.

Basically Gates uses drones to kill/find cockroaches while trying to work with the enemy in "civilian" villages (Because the civilians are actually the enemy). Afghans are playing the bureaucrats for fools.

The root causes are scandalously ignored. The Robert Thompson strategy of COIN does not work on religious fanatics as they easily take advantage of the lack of aggressiveness and have no problems being "drawn out" into a long, slow developing conflict.

I don’t believe there was ever any plan within the Admin to keep the raid a secret. Did Gates really say there was? If so, he is either misleading people or REALLY naive.

It's doubtful the nature of the raid was meant to be secret (though, keeping it such for at least a few days might have been prudent... then again, the Pakistani ISI had it happen right under their collective nose, so how long would it have been kept quiet anyway?). But the operational details need never have been made public, and certainly not immediately.

The fact we have to actually pay civilians NOT to plant IEDs is an abomination in fighting a war.

When my wife goes Afghanistan or any other Active Duty/Contractor, she is not considered a citizen or a human being. The only human beings are the Afghans in the politicians mind (Regardless of outward appearances), NATO forces are just expendable pieces of flesh. The civilian/Active Duty bureaucrats' goal is to limited collateral damage at the EXPENSE of Americans serving their Country.

The bureaucrats say they want to limit Islam anger in order to protect their "troops"/resources and preserve the cluster *f of a deluded mission. Bull feces, its about having to prevent the troops from killing a bunch of "civilians" who are actually the sleeping enemy, in self-defense. In short, Afghan civilians are just walking time bombs (In the bureaucrats deluded minds), but that will never change their hearts as long as they are attached to Allah.

Mine the mountain passages to the point that they are not usable... kill all of the poppy fields and salt the earth... bring our troops home from Afghanistan... keep drones flying and bomb or attack the enemy wherever we find him... nuke mecca and medina and take iran out with ICBM’s.
