INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The wife of Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels is giving few hints about whether her husband will run for president during a rare speech to Republican supporters in Indianapolis.
Cheri Daniels has kept a low profile as Indiana's first lady, but she made her biggest speech Thursday to a sold-out crowd of more than 1,000 people at a state party dinner.
She joked about her "glamorous" role in the state. She showed the crowd photos of her with sports team mascots, dressing up with the governor for Halloween and milking a cow at the state fair.
Mitch Daniels said before introducing his wife that "I'm not saying I won't do it" but that it has never been his intention to run for president.

“Run, Mitch, Run, the audience chants at address by Daniels wife”
What does that say about Mitch?
It says that he's a woman-whipped, wishy-washy, indecisive clown who lacks real leadership and guts.
No wonder the establishment is pushing Daniels. This guy is the perfect rube for Obama. He's the type who'll crack jokes with Obama and say that certain parts of Obama's record is "off the table." Then he'll graciously concede to him after losing all 50 states.
He’s far more intelligent than McCain. Truly an expert in the operation and structure of the Federal Budget. I think many Freepers find him unacceptably disinterested in some of the so-called “social” issues. Though he’s lately shown a willingness to toe the conservative line on abortion it doesn’t really seem that is where his true passion lies.
He’s a budget guy, first and last. If you think the deficit is the biggest issue that the next president needs to tackle, he’s your man. If not, he’s probably not.
I live in Indiana. Here are facts about Daniels:
On his first day in office, by executive order, he abolished state employee unions.
He just signed a law abolishing funding for Planned Parenthood in Indiana.
He just got a comprehensive state school vouchers program passed.
He sold off the Indiana Toll Road for cash to a consortium from Spain several years ago. He banked the money from this sale and is using the interest to fund road repairs and bridge construction.
He got a property tax cap passed.
He reduced school funding despite the howling of the teacher’s unions.
Indiana is in the black.
He doesn’t annoy us by being on TV all of the time.
He has not raised taxes. At all.
Now, Rush has his opinion, but it is based on words, not deeds. Rush makes his living from talk. A governor actually DOES things.
Everything I have posted is true and easily verifiable. You decide for yourself.
As a Hoosier, I am not sure he will run, and I am not sure he could mount an effective campaign because he is so low key. But he has been an excellent governor. It’s a shame Rush didn’t notice him when he was doing all of these things.
No, what this says is that he forgave her and took her back for the sake of his children.
Some people like to talk about how Christian they are. It’s a lot tougher to live it, which Daniels did.
The Establisment is pushing him obviously as an alternative to fallen Mitt and certain leftist media said that he is one Republican they would vote for....what does that tell you?
Rush didn't provide a whole lot of evidence for his McCain comparison, other than a statement that Daniels had made about the party not committing suicide for the sake of ideology and some words of praise Obama had made about Daniels. I wonder if their might be some sort of personal dislike between the two. Having listened to Rush since the early 1990's I have never heard him come out so strongly against one Republican primary candidate this early in the primary process, he spent nearly the entire first hour on Mondays show attacking Daniels.
I think she ran off and “married” another guy and then he finally took her back. All in all a mess that we do not need to relive on the 2012 campaign trail. The Dems will have a field day with it. The guy who couldn’t hold onto his wife. What a nightmare!!!
The deficit is my biggest issue.
I am so anti-Daniels my teeth hurt sometimes. He was Bush’s OMB director and gave us the numbers behind the tax cuts, NCLB, Medicare prescription drugs, Iraq war, etc. etc. Every budget mistake Bush made was Daniels responsibility to get right.
Obama must be quivering inside at the thought of running against Daniels. He has already pissed off the social conservatives and Obama will have a field day telling everyone why. Daniels will be unable to make a good counter argument as he’s already said that social issues are less important. That will discourage the social conservatives. If Daniels tries to change the subject to fiscal issues, Obama will beat him to a near death experience with the fact that he was Bush’s budget expert and the one who “Drove the car into the Ditch”.

And before all that was Bush’s OMB director. You tell me what voters and the press are going to focus on, his record as governor of a state or the budget mess that Bush got us in to.
That he's a better man than you are. But then, I suppose that would be damning him with faint praise.
It says he is a selfless father who loves his four daughters so much he's willing to put their need for their mother above his own pride.
It takes a strong man to do that.
