When people are arrested in the Capitol complex, they have to be taken to the DC jail.

Probably where they are supposed to be taken.
I would imagine 95% of a ‘planned’ protest would be detained and charged and ‘ordered’ to appear before a DC Court, with very little or no interaction with the fine residents of DC Jail.
The DC mayor and Council have been having a ‘good time’ and getting a lot of press by being ‘arrested’.
Yes, they are hauled off in plastic restraints and processed in a field office (or bus). They then have the nerve to liken themselves to the “Freedom Riders” and others that had to put up with Bull Connor and his fire hoses, and other assorted ‘good old boys’ in the deep south.
The way to get the Mayor and Council to “STOP” this foolishness is to take them out in regulation cuffs, and put them with their ‘guarded constituents’.
This ‘crap’ would end forthwith.

The hundreds, probably thousands of demonstrators who have been arrested and put in the DC jail, over the past 20 years or so, have been very unhappy about it and have complained about the accommodations and the company they were keeping. I don’t know what happened with Vincent Gray, but the DC administrative building is right down the street from the Capitol.
