ATLANTA - Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has signed a bill that cracks down on illegal immigration by increasing some enforcement powers and requiring many employers to check the immigration status of new hires.

Deal on Friday signed the bill that has some similarities to a controversial bill enacted last year in Arizona.

Most parts of the Georgia law are set to enter into effect July 1. But opponents have said they plan to file lawsuits seeking to block it.

Liberals, like muslims, are in a constant state of outrage.

“And look for liberal outrage, and liberal calls for boycotts of Georgia.”

Sounds to me like a good excuse to take a vacation there, tour a few great historical sites, etc. I like it.

“If enough states pass similar laws, will the liberals just boycott half the country, to make their political statement?”

That would be my honest dream come true: let the American grinches see why America is so great. Although chances are they won’t because they know that there really isn’t all that much room for their whining elsewhere.

Wasn’t Proposition 187 overturned by judicial action? If yes, then that’s another reason for me to be irritated at liberal judges.

Lack of porn, I guess.

There is another story percolating behind this one. Governor Deal banned Fox 5 Atlanta from the bill signing and press conference because of a story they ran last night. Allegedly Deal’s campaign last year paid his daughter in law $90,000 through a shell company.

How much is the federal government constitutionally required to do regarding illegal immigration anyway? From reading the Constitution I don’t see much regarding the subject. It should be up to the states to handle it.

Unless she’s here illegally, I could care less.

“I think Oklahoma is one of them”

Only to have the tyrants in black waiting to strike it down....

Immediately after the law was passed, illegals were leaving in droves. With that single ruling, they started returning in droves. “Will of the people” be dammed, but the fight against the supporters of SHamnesty continues...

Or Tennessee - we’ve got more than our share of illegals as well. I only hope that the spineless RINOs that populate Nashville will seek to clean up the mess here as well. At least get ‘em off the public dole. There’s NO REASON that the AMERICAN CITIZEN taxpayers should be putting these foreigners through school, let alone feeding them food stamps and other welfare. It’s bad enough that we have to carry our own deadwood without importing additional freeloaders.

It is time for citizens to stand up against Obama. Our elected officials are not doing it, so we must!

This article is about some elected officials who did it.

Couldn't you tell?

Gov. Deal signed this bill reluctantly. He campaigned heavily on immigration, then he signs it late on a Friday, after the news cycle.

He should have signed it with much fanfare and a defiant thumb in the nose to Obama. Especially after what Obama did earlier in the week in Texas.

He signed it and it made the news.

If you don't like Deal that's your business but you're grasping at straws.

Federal hiring laws have been in effect for years that state you cannot hire an illegal.
