U.S. Navy SEALs, like the teams that killed Osama bin Laden, are grateful for nation's show of support but are growing angry with the continued focus on their operation, tactics, and tools, claiming it could jeopardize future raids and their safety.
"My friends in the community tell me they're very glad for the bit of attention they got," said former Pentagon deputy undersecretary Jed Babbin, "but at some point the best way to help them is to stop. You guys in the press have done a good job, but stop for God's sake, stop." [See photos of the reaction to bin Laden's death.]
The latest straw came when CBS revealed that the members of Special Warfare Development Group, formerly SEAL Team Six, wore helmet cams into bin Laden's lair. For many, that was a detail too far and could lead those being targeted by the military to somehow deploy countermeasures.
And Washington Whispers this week reported on two blogs that identified the type of gun the SEALs likely used to kill bin Laden, the HK416 .
"Anything further that comes out," added Babbin, a sponsor of the Special Operations Warfare Foundation, "could damage their operational security, maybe reveal tricks of the trade or even endanger their families."

It should have stopped at Osama has been killed. Upon questions for more details, they could have said an elite fightiung force moved in a killed him. Nothing else.
Not long as that Kenyan nincompoop can use them for his reelection material.
SEALS, you have Obama, his incompetent Administration, and the perceived need to keep talking about this operation as a tool to get him re-elected, to thank for all this over-exposure, (and that’s just what it is, NOT attention.)
Over-exposure is the precise tipping point of selling, and it’s Obama that’s being sold.

2. puff enough smoke to disguise who actually outs the Seals identities. [remember the USS Carl Vinson had muslim sailors who performed the 4 takbirs at OBL’s burial at sea . . .a phrase which should raise concerns about their loyalty to our military].
Actually, they basically just put an FN/FAL gas system on an M4 carbine to make the HK416. The Sturmgewehr 44 was a really innovative weapon.
That’s right. This never would have happened under Bush. In fact, it never did happen under Bush. This is all part of the Obama victory lap. Leak all details of something that has been happening for years in order to take credit for it. What a scum he is.

Personally, I would not want to make enemies of those I pay to take a bullet for me, nor of those who can show up as you turn around...without a sound. Someone suggests giving out names of the most lethal men on earth? Really?
I would not think their families would take such things well, either. Or their friends. Or their colleagues. Or their former colleagues. Or former friends. Or people who work for them. Or those who are retired from same.
The media was actually on the beach where the US forces landed, and televised it!
